WAKE UP, MY PEOPLE: THE TIME IS NOW
2027 Must Be About Our Future, Not Religion, Tribalism and Political Manipulation

Wake up, my people. The time is now.
As we move towards 2027, we must begin to ask ourselves some difficult but necessary questions: What have we really gained from decades of political division? Who benefits when our people are divided? And what happens to our communities when we allow religion, tribe and political interests to determine who we support?
I have listened carefully to the political manoeuvring taking place across the country, including the controversies surrounding political parties and candidate selection in some States and Zone,
Recent reports indicate that the selection process involving two Friends become the talk of the day, with competing claims and internal disagreements
But beyond the names, parties and political calculations lies a bigger question:
What lesson are we learning from all of this?
For too long, ordinary people have been encouraged to fight one another over politicians who often sit together after elections. We are told to vote because of religion, tribalism. And money.We are mobilised through tribal sentiments. We are made to believe that our neighbour is our enemies simply because he belongs to another political camp.
Meanwhile, the real issues confronting our people remain within us, the politics of selfishness not competency, the power and money, the tribe and religion.
Where are the jobs?
Where are the good roads?
Where are the functional schools?
Where is affordable healthcare?
Where is security?
Where are the opportunities for our young people?
Where is the development?
These are the questions that should dominate our political conversations.not tribe no religion.
The greatest danger facing our people is not simply bad politics. It is the culture of division that bad politics has created
Religion should bring people together, not become a weapon for political manipulation.
Tribe should be a source of cultural identity and pride, not a tool for excluding others.
Politics should be about service, accountability and development not an opportunity for a few individuals to capture power while the people remain spectators.
We must reject the mentality that says, “It is our turn to eat.” rather let's look for people who are willing to serve.
Nigeria does not belong to one religion, one tribe, one region or one political party.
Nigeria belongs to all of us.
2027: LET US CHANGE THE QUESTION
In 2027, we should stop asking:
“Is he from my tribe?”
Let us ask:
“What has he done?”
Stop asking:
“Is he a Christian or Muslim?”
Ask:
“Can he provide competent and accountable leadership?”
Stop asking:
“Which party is he representing?”
Ask:
“What is his plan for our people?”
And most importantly, stop allowing politicians to use us against one another.
We must become voters, not political instruments.
OUR YOUNG PEOPLE MUST WAKE UP
The future belongs to the young people, yet they are often the same people politicians recruit to fight, abuse one another online and defend political interests that may not improve their own lives.
Our young people must understand that political loyalty without accountability is not leadership.
Support whoever you choose but demand results.
Defend your political ideas but do not destroy your relationships.
Disagree but do not hate.
Vote but vote with your eyes open.
THE LESSON OF 2027
The lesson we must learn is simple:
No politician is bigger than the people.
Political parties will negotiate. Alliances will change. Candidates will emerge and disappear. Political promises will be made and sometimes broken.
But the people remain.
Our communities remain.
Our children remain.
Our future remains.
That is why 2027 must not simply be another election.
It must be a moment of political awakening.
Let us reject the tainted legacy of religion-based manipulation, tribal politics, blind loyalty and political division.
Let us demand leaders who can unite us, develop our communities and protect the interests of ordinary citizens.
WAKE UP, MY PEOPLE
The time is now.
Before you share another political poster, ask yourself what that politician has actually done.
Before you insult someone because of his political choice, remember that you are both citizens of the same country.
Before you vote, ask yourself whether your decision will improve the future of your children.
2027 is coming.
Let us not enter it as divided people fighting for politicians.
Let us enter it as united citizens fighting for a better future.
Wake up, my people.
The time is now.
Our future is in our hands.
