How a Business Loss Pushed Me Into Web Design & Facebook Ads Success as a Tech Guy
Back in 2017, I had a thriving Okrika bale business in Abule Egba, Lagos. I started it with ₦1.7M and was moving goods steadily… until one day Customs seized everything. Just like that, I lost my business.
I was left with nothing — except my determination to start again.
One afternoon, while watching TVC, I saw a man sharing how he made millions selling products online through his own website and Facebook Ads.
That moment changed everything for me.
I had always loved tech, but this gave me a clear direction.
I started looking for people to teach me, and I discovered Dr. Stephen Akintayo and his wife, who were teaching e-commerce and mini-importation. I followed all their free lessons religiously. I even tried to enroll in their mentorship, but I couldn’t afford the $500 fee.
Still, I kept learning.
I discovered how to sell using WhatsApp Business and decided it was time to create my first online store.
I contacted Indian developers, but their fees were too high. Then someone my girlfriend introduced me to offered to build my website for ₦40k. I borrowed the money, hoping it would work.
Biggest mistake.
The site wasn’t hosted, didn’t load, and led to nowhere. When I complained, he insulted both of us, saying ₦40k was too small for a “real” website.
That day, I made a decision: I will learn how to build websites myself.
I dived into YouTube, watched countless tutorials, and even got mentorship from an Indian developer I met in Dubai. I practiced, experimented, and refined my skills.
Today, I have:
