What kinds of shops can you find on eBay?
So, eBay sellers have three types of shops: regular, premium, and super shops.

The main difference between regular sellers and shop sellers? Well, shop sellers gotta pay eBay some platform fees to open their shops.

eBay Getting Started Requirements
What you need to sign up as an individual seller:

1) Your ID and a phone number (make sure it's not already used on eBay)

2) An email address (using an overseas one works best)

3) A credit card (VISA or MasterCard dual-currency cards are your best bet)

4) A receiving account (either an eBay Managed Payment account or a PayPal account)

What you need to sign up as a business seller:
1) Your business license (needs to be legally registered in mainland China or Hong Kong for over a year)

2) The legal representative's ID (including ID info, address proof, etc.)

3) A business email (using a foreign one is recommended)

4) A phone number (one that hasn't been used on eBay before, preferably the legal rep's)

5) A business receiving account (either an eBay Managed Payment account or a PayPal business account).

What it costs to open an eBay shop
Getting started is pretty affordable, and here's what you'll mainly pay for:

1. Listing fees: eBay gives you up to 250 free listings each month. Want more? Just subscribe to an eBay Store and you'll get extra free listings;

Checking the backend last night, I almost thought the stats were wrong when I saw this number. 50 days, nearly $90k in sales, with a conversion rate just over 10%. 🤯

To be honest, I really wanted to quit during the first two weeks. Put money in, got zero orders... staring at the dashboard from morning to night, my mental state collapsed several times. Switched product directions twice in between; the first version was basically just "running alongside" (a total flop), and thinking about the money lost still hurts a bit. 💸

The turning point was adjusting the ad rhythm in week three, plus reworking the landing page and creative assets. The data only started climbing slowly after that. Once the order volume picked up later, I actually felt less nervous, focusing more on tweaking the conversion rate and AOV (Average Order Value).

Looking back on these 50 days, the biggest takeaway is: that "wasted money" burned early on was basically tuition fees. There are no shortcuts, but there are definitely ways to avoid some pitfalls.
