The Executive Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Council, Hon. Amalau Samuel Amalau, has expressed profound grief and deep concern over the difficult living conditions being faced by Internally Displaced Persons (IDP's) taking refuge at the RCC Ngwakap Camp in Mushere, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Hon. Amalau empathizes with the displaced families over the unfortunate circumstances that forced them away from their ancestral homes and sources of livelihood, assuring them that the government and people of Bokkos Local Government Area remain committed to standing with them during this challenging period.
The Executive Chairman notes that the pains, trauma, and emotional burden being experienced by the displaced persons are deeply troubling, stressing that no community deserves to live in fear, uncertainty, and hardship.
He further reiterates his administration’s determination to continue advocating for peace, security, and sustainable humanitarian support across affected communities in Bokkos Local Government Area.
As part of efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the displaced persons, Hon. Amalau donated mattresses to the IDP camp to improve the welfare and sleeping conditions of vulnerable women, children, elderly persons, and other affected individuals residing at the facility.
Hon. Amalau states that the intervention was a demonstration of compassion and solidarity with the displaced persons, emphasizing that responsive leadership must prioritize the wellbeing, dignity, and welfare of the people, especially during moments of distress and humanitarian challenges.
Also, the Executive Chairman assures the IDP's that the donation of mattresses would not be the last intervention from his administration, promising that more relief materials and humanitarian assistance would be mobilized to support the camp and ease the burden being experienced by the displaced families.
Hon. Amalau also calls on spirited individuals, humanitarian organizations, faith-based institutions, and development partners to complement government efforts by extending assistance and support to the displaced persons, stressing that collective responsibility and unity remain essential in addressing humanitarian crises.
Hon. Amalau commends the management and officials of RCC Ngwakap Camp for their resilience, sacrifice, and commitment towards caring for the displaced persons despite the enormous challenges confronting the camp, describing their efforts as noble and worthy of appreciation.
The Executive Chairman further prays for divine comfort, healing, restoration, and protection for all affected families, expressing hope that lasting peace and stability would soon return to the affected communities, thereby enabling displaced persons to safely return to their homes and rebuild their lives.
The donation exercise once again reflects the compassionate leadership style and humanitarian commitment of Hon. Amalau Samuel Amalau towards promoting the welfare, unity, peace, and wellbeing of the people of Bokkos Local Government Area, particularly during moments of adversity and communal hardship.
