TERROR IN THE VILLAGES: The Human Cost of Insecurity in Kankara LGA
My name is aliyu Ibrahim, and I am from Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. I am writing this not as a journalist, but as a citizen someone who has seen blood, tears, and pain with his own eyes. I want the world to hear us. I want our leaders to remember that we are still here, living in fear.
For the past few years, life in Kankara has changed. We used to sleep with our doors open, children playing freely, farmers going to the bush in peace. Now, everything is different. We sleep with one eye open. We don’t know if the next night will be our last.
Bandits enter our villages at night — sometimes even in the day. They come with guns, ride on motorcycles, and bring nothing but pain. They kill men, kidnap women, burn our homes, and steal what little we have. Many times, we have seen families cry over their loved ones, killed for no reason.
Our women are not safe. Bandits take them away — young girls, even married women. Some come back with wounds, some never return. The shame, the pain, the silence — it is too much. We don’t even know how to protect them anymore.

This is a cry for help. We are not asking for too much — only for safety, for peace, for life. We want to go back to our farms. We want our children in school. We want to stop burying our neighbors.
To our LEADERS, we say: "please do more. Visit us. Talk to us. Protect us".
To the WORLD, we say: "please hear us. We are human too. We deserve to live without fear".
Kankara is bleeding. And we are tired of dy
