While the cliche, “Never make the same mistake twice” is annoying, it is repeated so often because people are terrible at following it.
Fools make the same mistake over and over again. Smart people make a mistake only once. Rich people learn from other people’s mistakes.
In the words of Nathan Mayer Rothschild, the richest of the Rothschild Banking Dynasty and at onetime the richest man on earth —
“It requires a great deal of boldness and a great deal of caution to make a fortune; and when you have got it, it requires ten times as much wit to keep it.”
Quite a few people will say making mistakes is the only way to put yourself in a position to one day succeed, which may be true — just don’t make a costly mistake.
Building wealth is less about risking money for big gains, and more about not losing it to stupid mistakes.

This is the biggest SECRET to life. Sadly very few people live by this principle.

This is the secret to an extraordinarily ABUNDANT life … It’s very simple:

If you want friendship: You’ve got to first give friendship.

If you want respect: You’ve got to first give respect.

If you want energy: You’ve got to give energy (exercise).

If you want love: You’ve first got to give love.

If you want happiness: You’ve first got to give happiness.

If you want money: You’ve first got to give VALUE.

Never forget this powerful principle of life:

The more we GIVE, the more we’ll receive.

Somewhere hidden inside this wisdom hides the secret to human happiness and fulfillment.

Follow My Heart or Listen to My Parents — What Should I Do?

Have you ever asked your parents about following their heart or finding their passion?

I asked my parents, and here’s what they said:

“Passion? What passion? Life was very tough back then. All we did was study hard, then get a job that paid well. We worked a lot, sometimes overtime and that’s exactly what you should do instead of wasting your time writing stories.”

Does that sound familiar? Does that mean I should just do what they tell me, disregarding anything else that might seem interesting to me?

The brutally honest answer is, No.

Why You Should Follow Your Heart

Picture this. You keep doing what they tell you to do. Fast forward to the future, the day when eventually, they pass away.

Now what? Who’s going to tell you what to do?

No one.

Let me tell you what would happen when that unfortunate day comes. You’ll feel lost, directionless, disoriented. You wouldn’t know whether what you’re doing is the right thing to do.

You’ll doubt and question every decision you make, wishing your parents were here to tell you what to do. You’ll start transforming, changing, becoming a different person. And that’s when you truly transition from being a child to an adult.

Sounds scary, doesn’t it? Well, guess what? This day is going to come, whether you want it to or not.

One day, you have to grow up and transition from childhood to adulthood.

When that happens, do you know what you’ll have to do?

Accept responsibility for your life. Make your own decisions (some will be good, others will be bad) and accept the consequences of your decisions.

Since this day is bound to come, why wait for a series of life events to get there? Why not start today, right now?

Control your fate. Start making decisions that you think are the best ones for you. Start being responsible for your life and stop blaming your failures and misfortunes upon your parents.

Take responsibility today.

Be amazed. Take a step back and look at your life with gratitude every now and then.
Be amazed. Squeeze every last ounce of goodness out of what is around you. Savor it. Soak it up. Luxuriate in it.
Be amazed. When you’re burned out, bone weary, and bedraggled, use amazement to fill yourself back up. Seek out those situations, people, and activities that remind you of what it means and how it feels to be amazed.
And those painful parts? You know, the ones that really, really hurt. The ones you barely survive. Maybe there’s a little room for amazement there, too.
Amazement when you make it to the other side.
Amazement for how much the heart can hold.
Amazement for your resilience, your ability to heal, and your capacity to keep loving and hoping.
Be amazed by your spirit. Your tenacity. Be amazed by that part of you that refuses to give up.
You only get one shot at life, and you don’t have a whole lot of control over what happens to you in it. Take advantage of the choices that you do have.❗❗

Coming To Terms with Your Mortality

As we go about our day-to-day lives, we are inundated with thousands of thoughts, most of them the same thoughts that ran through our head the day before.
But very few of these thoughts, if any, are about our own mortality.
It’s a little scary to think about the fact that you and everyone you know will perish from this world.
No one knows when, but one day you will draw your last breath on this earth. Some people have the luxury of preparing for it, while others like Loukas have no idea that it’s coming.
But at some point, death comes for each and every one of us.
We all know this deep down, but it seems like so many of us live like we have unlimited time on this earth.
We put off spending time with family even though they can be taken from us at any given moment.
We refuse opportunities to get out of our comfort zone even though we have no idea how many of those opportunities we’re going to be given.
In other words, most of us go through life without coming to grips with our own mortality.

We all have the same number of hours in our day. Why do some of us run around, constantly stressed, complaining we “don’t have time,” while others seem to approach life in a relaxed and happy state but still get plenty done?
Though we all have responsibilities and obligations, this often comes down to choices.
Many of us make poor exchanges on our time on a daily basis. Each time we say yes to something, we are effectively saying no to something else. The problem is, we often say yes to too much. This is where a balance starts to tip.
Instead of feeling in control of our calendar, our time is all accounted for. We rush from this commitment to that, never really feeling like we’re truly present at any of them. We squeeze evermore into our days but feel we have less and less time to do the things we really want to do, or see the people we want to see. We have less space left for ourselves.
