THE LAST SON OF THE COMPOUND

Episode 2 – The Stranger in the Rain

The rain had not stopped for hours.

It pounded the roof of the compound, making the old windows rattle like they were about to shatter.

Inside, Tobi lay on the bed in his room, staring at the ceiling. His heart was racing.

The image of the shadowy figure at the window last night refused to leave his mind.

He tried to convince himself it was just his imagination.

But deep down… he knew it wasn’t.

Every instinct in his body screamed: something was watching him.

He sat up slowly, trying to hear anything beyond the sound of the rain.

Then… he heard it.

A soft crunch of footsteps on wet grass.

Outside.

Tobi held his breath.

He got up quietly, his bare feet touching the cold floor.

He moved to the window, careful not to make a sound.

And there it was again.

The figure.

Standing perfectly still. Watching him.

Tobi’s hands shook as he opened the window, leaning slightly out.

“Who are you?” he whispered, his voice trembling.

No answer.

The figure didn’t move.

Tobi’s mind raced.

Was it a man? A thief? Someone sent by Kunle to scare him?

The rain fell harder, drenching him instantly, but he didn’t care.

He had to know.

Slowly, Tobi grabbed his raincoat and stepped outside.

The night smelled of wet earth, electricity from the storm, and… something else. Something faint. Unfamiliar.

The footprints started appearing in the mud, fresh and distinct.

They led toward the abandoned building at the back of the compound, the one that had been locked for years.

Tobi’s heart pounded so hard, he thought it would burst.

He stepped closer to the building. The door, covered in moss and old scratches, creaked open as if inviting him in.

A cold wind brushed his face, carrying whispers he could almost hear.

Then—

A low voice came from inside.

“You should not have come here.”

Tobi froze.

“Who’s there?” he shouted, but his voice was swallowed by the storm.

The wind swirled around him.

Then he saw it—a handprint on the wall, glowing faintly red, as if drawn with fire.

His pulse skyrocketed.

Suddenly… the door slammed shut behind him.

Tobi spun around.

No one was there.

Just the darkness.

He turned back to the glowing handprint.

And then… the voice whispered again.

“You cannot hide what is coming…”

Tobi’s legs went weak.

He tried to move, but he felt an invisible force holding him in place.

Something cold, ancient, and powerful filled the room.

The storm outside seemed to scream louder.

Lightning flashed.

And in that instant…

Tobi saw a shadow move across the floor—fast, human-like, but taller than any person he had ever seen.

He screamed.

Then—silence.

The handprint faded.

The shadow vanished.

And Tobi was left alone… trembling, soaked, and knowing one terrifying truth:

He was being watched.

And it wasn’t just any watcher.

It was something… older, darker, and waiting for him.

His inheritance… his life… his very destiny… had just become a deadly trap.

THE LAST SON OF THE COMPOUND

Episode 1 – The Night of the Will

The rain did not fall that night…

It poured like the sky itself was angry.

Thunder cracked across the dark sky, shaking the windows of the old family house in Ibadan, the same house that had stood for over thirty years, witnessing wealth, power, secrets… and now, death.

Inside the compound, the atmosphere was heavy.

Not just with grief.

But with expectation.

Chief Adesina was gone.

And everyone knew one thing—

When a man like Chief Adesina dies, he does not just leave behind tears…

He leaves behind war.

Family members gathered in the large sitting room, dressed in black, but their eyes were not mourning.

Their eyes were calculating.

Watching.

Waiting.

The first son, Kunle, sat boldly on the biggest chair, legs crossed like a king who had already been crowned. His face carried confidence, the kind that comes when a man believes everything already belongs to him.

From time to time, he adjusted his gold wristwatch, glancing at others with quiet pride.

To him, tonight was just a formality.

Nothing more.

His younger sister, Bisi, sat quietly at the far end of the room. She said nothing, but her eyes moved from one person to another, observing every reaction, every whisper, every hidden tension.

She understood something others did not—

In a family like this, silence is more powerful than noise.

Then, in one corner of the room, sat Mama Sade.

Her prayer beads moved slowly in her hands.

Her lips whispered silent prayers.

But her eyes…

Her eyes were not at peace.

It was as if she knew something terrible was about to unfold.

And then…

There was Tobi.

He stood near the window, slightly away from everyone.

Quiet.

Unnoticed.

Just like always.

Tobi was the last son.

The one nobody took seriously.

The one they sent on errands.

The one they ignored during family discussions.

Some even said he was too soft.

Too calm.

Too different.

But what they didn’t understand was this—

Sometimes, the quiet ones are not weak…

They are just waiting.

Another loud thunder struck.

The lights flickered.

And just at that moment—

A car horn sounded outside the compound.

Everyone turned.

“The lawyer is here,” someone whispered.

Immediately, the tension in the room doubled.

Kunle sat up properly.

Bisi folded her arms.

Mama Sade’s prayer beads stopped moving.

Tobi slowly turned away from the window.

The door opened.

And the lawyer walked in.

Dressed neatly, holding a brown envelope tightly in his hand.

The room went completely silent.

Even the rain seemed to reduce… as if it also wanted to hear what was inside that envelope.

The lawyer cleared his throat.

“Good evening, everyone.”

No one responded.

He adjusted his glasses and sat down slowly.

Then he placed the envelope on the table.

That simple action…

Made hearts start beating faster.

“This,” he said calmly, “is the final will and testament of Chief Adesina.”

Kunle leaned forward slightly.

His lips curved into a small smile.

This was it.

His moment.

The lawyer opened the envelope carefully.

Every sound in the room disappeared.

You could hear breathing.

You could hear hearts pounding.

You could hear… anticipation.

“The majority of Chief Adesina’s properties…” the lawyer began.

Kunle’s smile grew wider.

“…including lands, houses, and business shares…”

Bisi’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Mama Sade held her chest.

“…will be handed over to—”

A loud thunder struck.

Then—

“—Tobi Adesina.”

Silence.

Dead silence.

For a moment, nobody moved.

Nobody blinked.

Nobody even breathed.

Then suddenly—

“What?!” Kunle shouted, jumping to his feet.

“That is impossible!”

The room exploded into noise.

Mama Sade’s prayer beads fell from her hands and scattered on the floor.

Bisi stood up slowly, shock written all over her face.

Tobi?

Tobi himself looked like someone who had just been hit by lightning.

“Me?” he whispered.

His voice almost lost in the chaos.

Kunle rushed forward angrily.

“This is a lie! This is manipulation! My father would never do this!”

But the lawyer raised his hand calmly.

“There is more.”

The room quieted again.

Slowly.

Reluctantly.

“There is a condition attached to this inheritance.”

Everyone froze.

“What condition?” Bisi asked quietly.

The lawyer looked directly at Tobi.

“Tobi Adesina must not leave this compound for thirty days.”

The rain suddenly became louder again.

“If he steps out of this compound…” the lawyer continued,

“…he loses everything.”

Tobi felt a strange chill run down his spine.

Something about that condition didn’t feel normal.

It didn’t feel right.

It felt like…

A trap.

Kunle laughed bitterly.

“You see? Even your own inheritance is a joke.”

But Tobi wasn’t listening anymore.

Something had caught his attention.

Slowly…

He turned his head toward the window.

The rain blurred his view.

But through the darkness…

He saw it.

A figure.

Standing still.

Not moving.

Not hiding.

Just standing there…

Watching him.

Tobi’s heart skipped.

He stepped closer to the window.

Trying to see clearly.

But suddenly—

Lightning flashed across the sky.

For one second…

The figure became visible.

And what Tobi saw in that moment…

Made his blood run cold.

Because the figure was smiling.

At him.

Then—

Darkness again.

The figure was gone.

Tobi stepped back slowly… His breathing became heavy.

Because deep inside…

He knew one thing , this inheritance…Was not a blessing.

It was the beginning of something else.

Something dangerous, Something waiting.

Episode 5 – The Lesson (last episode )

When we arrived at the compound, the neighbors looked at us with sad faces.

One of them slowly spoke.

“Your mother… passed away two years ago.”

Daniel fell to his knees immediately.

Tears poured from his eyes.

All those years he spent trying to change our lives…

The one person he wanted to make proud was no longer there.

We visited her grave that same day.

Daniel placed his head on the ground and cried like a child.

But after that moment…

Daniel made a promise.

He used his wealth to open schools and support poor families, especially mothers struggling to raise their children alone.

He said:

“I couldn’t give my mother the life she deserved… but I will make sure other mothers don’t suffer the same way.”

Sometimes in life, people leave to chase success.

But success means nothing if you forget the people who loved you first.

Lesson:
Never wait until it is too late to appreciate the people who sacrificed everything for you.

Episode 4 >>> The Truth

When I entered the room, the man stood up slowly.

For a few seconds we just stared at each other.

Then he said quietly…

“Brother… it’s really you.”

My legs became weak.

“Daniel?”

He nodded.

Tears filled his eyes.

He explained everything.

After leaving home that night, life became extremely hard for him. He slept on the streets, worked small jobs, and struggled to survive.

One day, a kind foreign businessman noticed his intelligence and decided to help him.

That man trained him, educated him, and eventually made him his business partner.

When the man died years later, he left a huge part of his company to Daniel.

That was how he became rich.

But there was something else.

Something painful.

Daniel looked down and said:

“I wanted to come back home many times… but I was ashamed.”

Ashamed that he had left us behind.

Ashamed that Mama suffered for years.

But now…

He was ready to come home.

However…

When we finally went back to our old house to see Mama…

The neighbors told us something heartbreaking.

Something that made Daniel collapse on the ground crying.

TITLE: “THE DAY MY BROTHER DISAPPEARED”

Episode 3 – The Secret

I couldn’t stop thinking about the man in the news.

Everything about him looked like my brother Daniel.

I decided to search more information online.

The more I read, the more confused I became.

The man called David Cole owned several businesses and was becoming famous for helping poor children.

But something about his story didn’t make sense.

Nobody seemed to know where he really came from.

No childhood records.

No family history.

It was like he suddenly appeared from nowhere.

My heart kept telling me something.

“What if this is really Daniel?”

After thinking about it for days, I decided to attend one of the charity events where he would appear.

When the day finally came, I stood among the crowd watching him speak.

My hands were shaking.

The moment he turned his face towards me…

Our eyes met.

For a few seconds, he froze.

The microphone almost fell from his hand.

He quickly looked away and ended the event.

But before he left…

One of his security men came to me.

And whispered something that made my heart beat faster.

He said:

“Mr. David wants to see you… alone.”

But when I entered the room to meet him…

What he told me about his life for the past seven years shocked me completely.

TITLE: “THE DAY MY BROTHER DISAPPEARED”

Episode 2 – The Strange News

Seven years passed.

Life slowly moved on, but the pain of losing Daniel never left our hearts.

Mama cried for him many nights.

Sometimes she would stand by the road, looking at every young boy passing, hoping one of them would be Daniel.

But it never happened.

I eventually started working in a small mechanic shop to support my mother.

One hot afternoon, while I was repairing a car, my friend rushed to me.

“Have you seen the news?”

I was confused.

“What news?”

He showed me his phone.

On the screen was a young man surrounded by cameras and reporters.

The headline said:

“Young Nigerian Businessman Donates Millions to Orphanages.”

At first, I didn’t pay attention.

But when I looked closer…

My heart almost stopped.

The man in the picture looked exactly like Daniel.

The same eyes.

The same face.

But the name written there was different.

They called him Mr. David Cole.

I stared at the phone for a long time.

Could this really be Daniel?

Or was it just someone who looked like him?

But before I could find the answer…

Another shocking truth about that man was about to be revealed.

Something that nobody expected.

TITLE: “THE DAY MY BROTHER DISAPPEARED”

Episode 1 – The Promise🤝

Growing up in a small compound in Lagos was not easy for me and my younger brother, Daniel.

Our father died when we were still very young, and life became hard for our mother. She sold roasted corn by the roadside just to feed us.

But Daniel was different from other children.

He always believed that one day our life would change.

Every night we would sit outside our small room, looking at the stars, and Daniel would say something that always made me laugh.

“Brother, one day I will become rich and build Mama a big house.”

I always told him, “Just focus on school first.”

Daniel was very brilliant. In fact, his teachers said he was one of the best students in the whole school.

But poverty started pressing us harder every day.

One evening, Mama came home looking tired and worried. She had sold almost nothing that day.

Daniel quietly stood up and went inside the room.

I didn’t know what he was thinking.

That night, while we were sleeping, Daniel wrote a small note and left it on the table.

By morning…

Daniel was gone.

The note only said: Don’t look for me. I will come back when I change our lives.”

That was the last time we saw him.

For seven years, Daniel disappeared.

But one day…

Something shocking happened.

And it changed everything.
