“Good Design is Obvious, Great Design is Transparent” - Joe Sparano.

I made a few changes to yesterday's flyer design as pointed out by Chukwu Adaeze Victoria. And I loooooooooooove the outcome. 😍

Spot the difference if you can. 😎

𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭: The marks/pattern on the model's body was created by repeatedly writing the word 'KINDNESS' to create a pattern. Then I converted the text pattern to a smart object, clip masked on the model's body, and changed the blend mode to 'subtraction. The design was created in Photoshop.

𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞!

This line helped me escape verbal bullying during secondary school and throughout my teenage years.

I had suffered verbal bullying for most of my primary school years, and it continued into secondary school. One day, I noticed how my friends listened intently when I spoke and how my classmates often sought my opinion during class discussions. That was my Eureka moment. 🙈 😎

It dawned on me that perhaps my head was big, as everyone said because it was full of knowledge. From then on, whenever someone bullied me about my head, I would respond with this idea. It made sense to both me and my bullies, and the bullying stopped.

These memories came flooding back yesterday when I saw the nursery rhyme line, “𝑺𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒚 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒎𝒆.” But because I have over the years learned the power of kind words, I decided to paraphrase the rhyme and create a flyer design about it. Just because I can!🤣 😂 😆

Well, there’s another reason. 😍 CAV Chukwu Adaeze Victoria is hosting a seven-day consistency challenge to help designers maintain consistency, overcome imposter syndrome, and build confidence. So here is my day 1.

I have wanted to be many things or to do many things in this my young life. But one of the major holdbacks I usually have is the thought and feeling of not being ready enough.

The moment these thoughts come, forget it! I will not make any move and as a result, have lost many opportunities because I never bothered to try.

These days, once a good idea comes to my mind, I consider my options and take action even though I still feel not ready enough.

It is this same message that I have come with today. Close your eyes and shoot your shot, post your work, apply for that job, etc.

There are only two outcomes- a win or a lesson!

𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲!

The greatest fear of most brilliant people is the fear of not knowing enough. I once heard a designer that I love and admire so much say and I quote- “Just post it and run away!”.

I think we were discussing the fear of posting your work online especially when you are still quite a beginner or at an intermediate level at your craft.

Every single great person that we love and respect so much has felt (might be feeling) this way.

What’s the cure? ‘Just post it and run away!’. Showing your work to the world doesn’t just tell people what you do for a living, it helps you track your progress and show the world how much you have grown within a particular period.

What’s next? Go and post that your work! Yes, the one you don’t feel quite awesome about, and once you have learnt more, share your new learnings.

Slow progress is progress anyway. Ire o!
