SAMPLE GOVERNOR'S STATE ADDRESS
"Development Through Service and Shared Prosperity"
By His Excellency, The Governor
My people,
It is with great pleasure, and a heart full of gratitude that I come before you all, my people, to deliver this address to you, in your capacity as my constituency, as well as a fellow citizen who shares in the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of the people of this great state.
First and foremost, I want to acknowledge the good Lord above for His guidance, mercy, and most importantly, giving me the opportunity to serve you, my people. I also express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you, my people, for your patience, support, and cooperation with this administration.
I believe that leadership is not about the position that one holds, but rather the print that the leader leaves on the people he/she leads. The roads we've laid, the lives we've changed, the opportunities created, and the smiles on the faces of our people are what constitute leadership, and for which I will continue to strive to make an impact on the lives of my people.
Upon taking office, we knew the magnitude of the responsibility that we had undertaken. We knew of the burdens of the state that we would have to bear, and the challenges that we would face on our journey to developing and positioning this state as a developed entity.
Therefore, we have begun to make inroads on matters concerning the development of this great state.
In matters concerning infrastructure, we are committed to continuing with the aggressive and strategic acquisition of infrastructure that will see us continue to build and pave the roads that will facilitate trade and commerce, and bring our people together.
In addition to roads, education remains a priority for this administration. We are committed to ensuring that we have quality education for our children, so that they can grow up to be quality leaders and citizens who will take this state to greater heights.
Healthcare is also very important to us, as we understand that our people are the most important capital that this state possesses, and as such we will ensure that our people have better access to quality healthcare.
Youth empowerment remains a priority for this administration, as we believe that the future of this state lies in the hands of our youths. Therefore, we will continue to create opportunities for our young people so that they can become job creators instead of job seekers.
We also acknowledge the sacrifices of our farmers, entrepreneurs, workers, and business owners who contribute greatly to the economy of our state, and we will do everything possible to ensure that they reap the fruits of their labor.
My people,
we cannot talk about development, unless we first acknowledge that peace and security are a must for sustainable development. We will continue to work closely with our security agencies, as well as community leaders to ensure that we have lasting peace and security in each and every village and town.
However, people often forget that government cannot develop a state on its own.
As much as I want to lead this great state of ours, I understand that leadership is a team effort, and as such, each and every one of you, my people, plays a crucial role in the development of this state. Therefore, let us put our differences aside and come together to build this state.
My people,
to our civil servants, your untiring efforts are highly appreciated. To our traditional leaders, your cooperation is also deeply appreciated. To our youths and women, your contributions to the development of this state are very important to us. We are committed to serving you, my people, and as such, we will continue to serve with utmost integrity.
It may not have been easy, but we have come a long way in the years that we've served. I am confident that we will overcome the remaining challenges together, my people.
We will continue to expand opportunities, create jobs, and ensure that our people have access to a better quality of life.
However, my people, history will not remember us by the positions we held, but rather by the impact that we made while in those positions.
Together, my people, let us build a better and more prosperous state for all of us.
May God bless our people,
may He bless our state,
and may He bless our country.
Thank you, and God bless you all.
— His Excellency, The Governor
