For centuries, the Lozi people have been custodians of the stunning Liuwa Plain, a place where over 12,000 residents live in harmony with wildlife within the Liuwa Plain National Park in Zambia

This incredible coexistence is the result of a 20-year partnership between the Barotse Royal Establishment, the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, and African Parks. Together, they’ve created a model of conservation that protects this unique landscape while ensuring that both communities and wildlife thrive.

Induna Mundandwe puts it best: “The importance of conserving wildlife is that the communities themselves believe that the wildlife they live with is theirs.” 💚

This story is a testament to how collaboration, respect for heritage, and sustainable practices can create lasting impacts.

This mountain range of surrealistic reliefs which height goes between 700 and 1500 meters, is the source of some of the big rivers in Western Africa, as the Gambia, the Bafing (Senegal), the Bakoy, the Koliba, the Kolentè (Grand Scarcies), Kaba (Little Scarcies), or the Konkouré.
Fouta Djallon with its agreeable climate, majestic landscapes, countless waterfalls, impressive cannons, natural swimming pools for refreshing yourself, some rocky capricious formations, spectacular granite cliffs, it is an indispensable region in a West Africa trip for hiking lovers, since it offers many treks.

Benin Republic celebrates The Ouidah Voodoo Festival

The very revered Temple of the Pythons alone organizes the annual Voodoo festival or Fête du Vodoun, that draws over 10,000 people from all over the world — especially Haiti and Brazil — to come pay homage to the fe**sh.

The Ouidah Voodoo festival is celebrated annually on January 10, which is a public holiday in Benin.
Voodoo as a religion is practiced by 17% of Beninese. It was recognised as a major religion in Benin in 1996 but the first Voodoo Festival was inaugurated in 1993. It became a national holiday on 10 January 1998.

The festival's aim is to rehabilitate the traditions and cultures of voodoo, as well as "celebrate the humanistic value of the traditional religions that form the basis of African spirituality and to reclaim the identity and dignity of black Africans."

Covering almost 37 acres, Durban Botanic Gardens are the oldest surviving botanic gardens in Africa.

They opened in 1851 to help supply England's Kew Gardens with new plant species. Guided tours of the gardens are available, along with several themed walks through different areas of the complex. Special collections include the over 6,000 orchids, the collection of palm trees, and the cycads, some of the world's oldest living plants.

There is a tea room in the gardens, and the grounds have always been a popular place for picnics. Various events take place here, including plant fairs, Victorian tea parties and outdoor concerts.
