Chapter 3: A Voice Behind the Messages....

That evening, as the sun dipped below the rooftops, Amara sat by her window, scrolling through her phone. She noticed Tunde hadn’t sent a message in a few hours. It was unusual. He was always the first to check in.

Just as she was about to put her phone down, it buzzed.

“Hey, Opaychukwu. Are you free for a few minutes?”

She hesitated. “Yes… why?”

“Can we talk? Like, actually talk. Not just texts.”

Her heart skipped. A phone call felt different, more real, more personal. She stared at the screen for a moment before replying.
“Okay.”

A few seconds later, her phone rang. She took a deep breath and answered.

“Hello?” she said softly.

“Hi,” Tunde’s voice came through, warm and calm. “So this is what you sound like.”

Amara laughed nervously. “And this is what you sound like.”

There was a brief silence, but it wasn’t awkward. It felt comfortable, like sitting beside someone without needing to say much.

“You sound exactly how I imagined,” Tunde said.

“And how is that?” she asked.

“Gentle… and kind.”

Amara felt her cheeks grow warm again. “You don’t even know me that well.”

“I’m getting there,” he replied. “One message at a time… and now, one call at a time.”

They talked about simple things, how their day went, what they had for dinner, the songs they liked. But hearing his laughter and the softness in his voice made everything feel more real.

After a while, Tunde said, “I’m glad I asked for your native name that day.”

“Why?”

“Because that’s when our conversation really started. It felt like I was talking to the real you.”

Amara looked out the window, watching the evening sky turn darker. She realized he was right. Something had changed since that moment.

“Well,” she said, smiling, “I’m glad you asked too.”

They stayed on the call a little longer, neither of them in a hurry to hang up. And when they finally did, Amara placed her phone on her chest, staring at the ceiling.
For the first time, Tunde wasn’t just a name on her screen. He was a voice, a laugh, a presence.
And somehow, that made everything feel even more special.

Chapter 2: A Little More Than Just a Chat 😊

The next morning, Amara woke up to the soft sound of her notification tone. Still half-asleep, she reached for her phone. It was a message from Tunde.

“Good morning, Opaychukwu,” he wrote. “Hope you slept well.”

She blinked at the screen, surprised. Most people would have gone back to calling her Blessing, but he chose her native name. Somehow, it made the greeting feel warmer, more personal.

“Good morning,” she replied. “I slept well. You?”

“Better now that I’ve said good morning to you,” he sent back, followed by a smiling emoji.

Amara shook her head, smiling to herself. “You’re a smooth talker, Tunde.”

“Not really,” he replied. “I just say what I feel.”

Their conversation drifted from morning routines to favorite foods, childhood memories, and the little things that made them happy. It felt easy—like talking to someone she had known for years.

Later that afternoon, Tunde sent another message.
“You know, I’ve been thinking about your name.”

Amara raised an eyebrow. “In what way?”

“It carries a lot of meaning. ‘God’s blessing.’ That’s not just a name… it’s a reminder.”

“A reminder of what?” she asked.

“That good things still exist,” he said. “And sometimes, they come into your life unexpectedly.”

Amara read the message twice. Her heart beat a little faster, though she wasn’t sure why.
“Maybe,” she typed slowly. “Or maybe it’s just a name my parents liked.”

Tunde replied almost immediately. “No, I think it’s more than that. Names have power. And yours… yours already made an impression on me.”

Amara looked at the screen, her smile returning. What started as a simple question about her native name was turning into something deeper, something she couldn’t quite explain yet.
And for the first time in a long while, she found herself looking forward to the next message.

Chapter 1

Amara and Tunde had been chatting for a few days after meeting in a group chat. What started as casual greetings slowly turned into late-night conversations and random jokes.
One evening, Tunde sent a message.

“By the way, what’s your native name?” he asked. “I’m curious.”

Amara smiled at her phone. Most people just called her Blessing, but her native name always felt special to her.

“It’s Opaychukwu,” she typed.

Tunde paused for a moment, then replied, “Wow, that sounds beautiful. What does it mean?”

“It means God’s blessing,” she said.

Tunde sent a smiling emoji.
“That suits you. You’ve been nothing but a blessing to talk to these past few days.”

Amara felt her cheeks grow warm. “You’re just saying that.”

“No, I mean it,” he replied. “And now I’ll remember your name. Opaychukwu… it’s unique.”

She stared at the message, a small smile forming on her lips. For the first time, someone had asked about her native name and made her feel proud to say it out loud.

Their chat continued, but from that moment, it felt a little more special than before.
