EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF ORILE AGEGE LCDA ENGAGES HEAD TEACHERS ON EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

Orile-Agege LCDA |
‎Sunday 18th January, 2026.

The Executive Chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, on Friday, 16th January 2026, held a strategic meeting with all nursery and primary school head teachers across Orile Agege. The meeting took place at the Conference Hall of the Orile Agege Council Secretariat and was aimed at discussing the way forward for educational development within the LCDA.

In his address, the Executive Chairman reiterated his administration’s strong commitment to repositioning the education sector. He recalled that shortly after his swearing-in, he embarked on a comprehensive tour of all public primary and secondary schools in Orile Agege to personally assess their needs and challenges.

Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu outlined several intervention plans, which include the provision of school uniforms and sportswear for pupils, installation of solar-powered boreholes to ensure access to potable water, rehabilitation of school toilets, and the distribution of furniture for both students and teachers across public schools in the LCDA. He also announced plans to supply whiteboards, markers, and other teaching aids, as well as to strengthen school security to safeguard pupils.

He further highlighted his vision to establish sick bays in all schools in collaboration with the Medical Officer of Health (MOH), Orile Agege, and to provide Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in schools. Each CBT centre will have a 250-set capacity, serving both academic purposes and as a revenue-generating facility for the schools and the government. He also announced that all head teachers will be equipped with laptops, while pampers and writing materials will be provided for nursery pupils.

During the interactive session, several head teachers presented their concerns and requests. Mrs. Badmus of Methodist Primary School raised the urgent need for toilet rehabilitation. Mrs. Abike Oyinlola of Ibukunolu Nursery and Primary School commended the meeting and the collaboration between teachers and the government, describing it as a clear roadmap for educational development. She also requested the release of teachers’ December festive gifts yet to be collected.

Head teachers from Oko Oba and Ladoje Nursery and Primary Schools appealed for the grading of their school access roads and the construction of drainage to prevent flooding. Mrs. Odewa of Ore Ofe Nursery and Primary School, Dopemu, expressed concern over hoodlums occupying a pedestrian bridge used by pupils, thereby discouraging school pupils and also reduce students attendance. She called for urgent intervention and also requested a replacement of pumping machine after the previous one was stolen.

Head teachers from Oyewole and Anu Oluwapo Schools reported collapsed perimeter fencing, inadequate toilets, and a shortage of teachers, all of which pose security and learning challenges.

The Vice Chairman, Hon. Wale Fayemi, applauded the Chairman’s passion for education, noting that the ongoing furniture distribution and other interventions are direct outcomes of the Chairman’s earlier school inspection tour. He urged teachers to continue supporting the administration and offered prayers for the success of the Executive Chairman.

Also speaking, the Head of Education, Mrs. Oguyankin, praised the administration’s proactive approach, assuring participants that all complaints and requests—ranging from furniture and teaching materials to welfare and security—will be addressed. She appealed for the continued cooperation of teachers.

In his closing remarks, the Executive Chairman emphasized that the engagement would become a monthly programme, reinforcing collaboration between the government and educators. He commended teachers for their dedication to nurturing present and future leaders and assured them that the date for the next meeting would be communicated in due course.

The vote of thanks was delivered on behalf of all primary school head teachers by Mrs. Fafoluyi.

Dignitaries in attendance included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Wale Fayemi; Head of Education, Mrs. Oguyankin; Chief of Staff, Hon. Olufemi Babatunde Tijani; Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sunday Adefamoye; and members of the Akin Dodo Media Team.

Wednesday 14th January 2026

As the mission draws closer, the path continues to become clearer and smoother. On Tuesday 13th January 2026, the Sports Committee paid a strategic visit to the Agege Local Government Council, where they met with the Chairman of Agege, Hon. Ganiu Obasa Vinod. The purpose of the meeting was to seek and strengthen the Chairman’s full support in preparation for the upcoming marathon race titled “Run for Asiwaju 2027 Mini Marathon.” Hon. Ganiu Obasa Vinod, an avid sports enthusiast, warmly received the committee and expressed his willingness and readiness to both participate in and support the marathon, as well as other future sporting activities.

He further suggested that residents of Agege and Orile-Agege should make it a habit to come out on Saturdays to jog from Agege to their preferred sporting destinations. According to him, this would help residents stay fit while also serving as adequate preparation for the upcoming mini marathon. To encourage participation, a substantial number of registration forms were handed over to him to ensure easy access for interested participants. Additionally, the programme banner was mounted at the Agege Council fence to create public awareness.

Following this, the committee proceeded to Omotoye Estate to deliver an official invitation to Mr. Yomi Otubela, the founder of Lagooz schools and also the Chairman of the Private School Owners Association in Lagos. Mr. Otubela expressed deep admiration for the inclusive style of governance being demonstrated by Hon. Akinola Idowu. As a resident of Orile-Agege, he emphasized the importance of supporting and encouraging such leadership and pledged his full alliance and support for any programme requiring his participation.

The committee then visited Hon. Johnson Babatunde Sunday (JS), the former Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA. He expressed happiness with the current administration and acknowledged that his own achievements while in office provided a solid foundation that has enabled the present Chairman to focus on other critical areas of development. Speaking on the marathon, he described sports as a unifying and redemptive force capable of bringing people from all walks of life together and helping to discover and redirect talented youths away from the streets. In show of support, he pledged his commitment to supporting the Sports Committee in all present and future sporting activities.

Next on the itinerary was the Vice Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA, Hon. Wale Fayemi. Due to his tight schedule and prior awareness of the programme, the visit was brief but productive. He received his invitation along with participant forms to be distributed among his team. Beyond engagements with key stakeholders, registration forms were also distributed to interested individuals willing to participate in the race.

Although the committee had a busy and demanding day, the overwhelming support and positive feedback received strongly indicate that the success of the “Run for Asiwaju 2027 Mini Marathon” is both possible and achievable.
