🚧 What’s MTN Really Doing With All These New Fibre Installations? 🤔

Over the past few weeks, many people across Lagos, especially in areas like Ikorodu, have noticed a major telecom rollout happening right under our noses.

I’ve been hearing questions like:

📌 “Is MTN installing fibre to every home?”
📌 “Why are the cables running close to electricity lines?”
📌 “Are they planning to phase out their masts?”

Here’s the simple breakdown:

🔶 1. Yes, MTN is massively expanding Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH)

MTN recently launched a big push to connect millions of Nigerian homes to high-speed fibre broadband.
The goal: better internet, smoother streaming, reliable work-from-home connectivity, and stronger support for 5G.

🔶 2. Why you’re seeing the cables on electricity poles

In many cities, telecoms partner with local utilities to run fibre on existing poles.
It’s faster, cheaper, and avoids road digging, but it can look unusual when you first notice it.

🔶 3. No, they’re not eliminating their masts

Fibre does not replace mobile towers.
Fibre strengthens home/office broadband, while masts continue powering mobile networks (4G/5G).
Both work together to improve overall connectivity.

AI Security 101: The 3 Questions Every CISO Should Ask

Before deploying ANY AI solution:

1️⃣ "Where does our training data come from?"
→ Public datasets may contain biases, PII, or malicious content
→ Poisoned training data = compromised AI

2️⃣ "Can users manipulate the AI through prompts?"
→ Prompt injection is the #1 AI vulnerability
→ Test for: jailbreaks, system prompt leaks, instruction overrides

3️⃣ "What happens to sensitive data the AI processes?"
→ Does it get stored? Logged? Used for retraining?
→ LLMs have been known to leak training data

If your security consultant can't answer these, they're not ready for AI.

💬 Your Voice Can End Drug Abuse.

A few years ago, during one of our community outreaches, I met Daniel, a bright young man whose story changed the way I viewed the fight against drug abuse.

Daniel was a university student — intelligent, social, and full of ambition. But peer pressure slowly lured him into substance use. What started as “just trying it once” became a daily habit that cost him his scholarship, his health, and nearly his life.

When we first met, Daniel said something that has never left me:

> “I didn’t need rehab first, I needed someone to talk to me before it began.”

That single statement reminded me that our voices matter more than we think.
