UPDATE ON THE OKUNRAYE BAALESHIP CHIEFTAINCY TITLE CASE
Court Sitting of October 8, 2025
As part of the ongoing proceedings in the Okunraye Baaleship Chieftaincy Title case, the court reconvened on Tuesday, October 8, 2025, to continue the cross-examination of the defendant’s last witness.
However, in an unexpected development, one of the defence lawyers submitted a notice stating that the wife of their final witness passed away last week. Consequently, the witness was unable to appear before the court a claim that was verified as true.
In view of this, the court, along with one of their legal representative, who had also listed this individual as a key witness, agreed to adjourn the case until December 3, 2025.
Nevertheless, a new and significant development emerged during this session. The presiding judge issued a stern warning to all counsels involved, clearly stating that the court would no longer tolerate any further delays or frivolous adjournments. He emphasized that any lawyer found deliberately stalling proceedings will face sanctions, in line with directives from the Federal Ministry of Justice.
This strong judicial stance gives renewed confidence that justice will soon be delivered without further obstruction.
It is important to note that the Local Council’s lawyer, who represents the Lekki LCDA, continues to support the defendants in this case a move that has raised serious ethical and constitutional concerns. This interference reflects a longstanding pattern of bias, abuse of office, and political manipulation often witnessed by several communities within the LCDA, not just Okunraye.
Our constitution does not in any way empower a Local Government Authority to interfere in matters pending before a court of law, let alone take sides in a dispute that concerns the peace and heritage of a community. Yet, despite all attempts to influence the outcome, their efforts have proven futile. Every tactic to delay justice or twist the truth has failed, and the facts of this case continue to speak clearly in favour of the Oregolu Ruling House.
At this stage, it is evident that the defendants have lost their footing. The Oregolu Ruling House holds the upper hand, backed by overwhelming evidence and legal merit. The day of victory is near.
I therefore urge all members of the Oregolu Ruling House and every citizen of Okunraye community to remain patient, calm, and united. Let us not be distracted by the falsehoods being circulated in the media. Many of these claims stem from ignorance of how the judicial system operates. We, on the other hand, are guided by both native wisdom and sound understanding of the law and we know where this case is headed.
As a wise saying goes:
“How can a journey that involves both the blind and those who see clearly be led by the blind? It is simply impossible.”
Indeed, truth and justice can never be led astray. No matter the delay or distraction, the Okunraye Baaleship Chieftaincy Title will rightfully return to Chief Ibrahim Mikahil Adedeji (Fiwajoye I).
In Advance: Congratulations to Chief Ibrahim Mikahil Adedeji, the Oregolu Ruling House, and the entire people of Okunraye.
Very soon, Okunraye will rise again under new, visionary, and progressive leadership that upholds integrity, unity, and community development.
Signed:
