90% of the business owners I know, service and product based, will definitely put out an offer in December. But guess what? There's no preparation going on right now. Some product based business owners haven't even started preparing what they'll be selling, not to talk of doing any real product development. Then in November, flyers will start appearing everywhere, and everyone will rush to influencers hoping 200 leads will somehow turn into sales. Lol. Just lol.
Let me tell you a story.
Last December, I ran a collaborative sale with some product based business owners here. I had invested heavily in lead generation all year, back to back, 600+ leads from Beth in March, 200+ from TMM, constantly bringing new people into my community. But when December came, I made the mistake of thinking I could just build on the leads I already had.
I got an investor for my fashion brand, travelled to my supplier's store, and did the first major restock. Marketing was mostly in-house, just me and the other vendors. We started promoting in mid-November, even pulled together friends and a model for content. Sales officially started December 1st.
The sales came, but nowhere close to what I expected.
Why? There was no proper marketing strategy behind the offer. The clothes I bought were mostly pieces I assumed my customers would like, no real market survey, no validation. I was making purchasing decisions off pure guesswork. And by the time sales started, there wasn't enough time to properly market each piece individually.
And those leads I spent the whole year generating? Most of them had already moved on. The offers that brought them in were long gone, and I hadn't done nearly enough to keep their attention. If I had planned ahead and worked with those influencers again, it could have re-engaged those same leads and brought my brand back to the front of their minds before the offer even launched.
I took those lessons and went all out with HairXtension in February. The planning that went into that campaign was on a completely different level.
People see the results, but they rarely sit down to study the effort, planning, and strategy behind them. Funke Akindele will sell out in December, not because she's sitting back hoping her fan base shows up, but because she's putting in the work that makes it almost impossible for them not to.

The mistake some of you business owners make is overestimating your efforts.
Not to be the bearer of bad news, but you've not even done half of what needs to be done. And thinking you can relax because "you dey try" might be the exact reason consistency isn't working in your favour.
Let me show you what it really takes for the average Nigerian to put you on.
People don't support you simply because you're talented. They do it because you've given them enough reasons to. That reason could be your expertise, your credibility, your reliability, your integrity, your social proof, your consistency, the relationship you've built with them, the trust you've earned, the admiration they have for your work, the influence of who you're associated with, and more.
So as a business owner or skilled professional, make sure you possess at least seven of these qualities. Your audience should be able to point to at least five different reasons why they trust you, recommend you, or choose to buy from you.
There's so much to do. Don't be lazy.
Visible progress. Activity. Momentum. Evidence. That's what motion is, and nobody is going to put you on if they can't see any. This motion is simply the proof of everything I just listed.
The work that guarantees success is not a small one.

Been up since 5am today, and I've only finished one task.
UB sent her people my way this morning, and I just watched the messages pile up while I was out sourcing products for a client. Products I actually started sourcing last week, but had to pause because most warehouses close on weekends.
And that's just one procurement gig. I still have two others waiting, one I had to hand off to my assistant just to keep things moving.
It's made one thing very clear to me. I don't just need more hands, I need a system. Maybe even a community of importers who can grow into this together.
I don't have it all figured out yet. But if this business has taught me anything, it's that growth always looks like this first. Messy, before it looks like anything else.
If you're building something right now and it feels the same way, you're not behind. You're just in the part nobody posts about.
