UAE visa only available to Nigerians from 45 years with N16 million monthly closing bank balance

While noting that the foreign government was accepting visa applications from Nigerian nationals, UAE attached a list of stringent rules that must be followed.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities have mandated that Nigerian solo tourists must be 45 years or older before they can visit the Asian country, according to a new set of travel guidelines seen by Peoples Gazette.

While noting that the foreign government was accepting visa applications from Nigerian nationals, UAE attached a list of stringent rules that must be followed.

The guideline stated that Nigerian tourists who intend to travel to the country must have an account balance of at least $10,000 or N16 million to be eligible for a 30- or 60-day travel visa.

“SIx-month bank statement under passenger name, with closing balance not less than $10000 each month” and a “confirmed return ticket on Emirates Airlines” were among the explicit terms and conditions to qualify for a UAE visa.

Other conditions include “confirmed hotel booking” and a “valid residence permit of the country of residence.”

Nigeria and UAE previously locked horns in a diplomatic row that made it impossible for Nigerians to visit the latter since September 2022.

THE WOMAN WHO ORIGINATED THE ,THAT'S PRESENT IN ALL NIGERIAN MILITARY BARRACKS😍

This is a story about the origin of the Mammy market, which is present in all Nigerian military barracks.

In every military barrack in Nigeria, there is a place where soldiers and residents go to eat, drink, and buy their daily needs. It is called "Mammy market". The Mammy market was named after a woman called "Mammy Maria Ochefu".

She was married to Col. Anthony Ochefu, and they both lived in the military barrack in Enugu State before Col. Ochefu was transferred to Kaduna State. To kill idleness and make some money, Mammy Ochefu established a business selling soft drinks, as well as a local beverage popularly known as "Kunu", which she prepared herself.

She soon became popular as soldiers trooped to her house to buy the beverage. After a short while, there were complaints from people that the drink attracted flies, and Mammy Ochefu had to stop its production and sale.

Shortly afterwards, pressure from her clients inspired a colonel to set up a section behind the barracks to make it more conducive to produce and sell her drinks. A tent was built for her there and Mammy's business began to boom again.

Soon, other women in the barracks became inspired by Mammy's industrious nature and started to sell other items at the section set up for her. This part of the barracks became known as the "Mammy market".

Mammy Ochefu's family was often transferred to different states across the country and wherever they went, she would always establish a Mammy market in the barracks. Before transferring to another State, Mammy Ochefu would hand over the market to women she trusted but ask that they retain the name.

Since then, all military barracks in Nigeria began to set up Mammy markets. Mammy Ochefu's husband died a few years after they moved to their hometown in Otukpo (Benue State), where Mammy currently resides.

JOSEPH SARWUAN UNIVERSITY MAKURDI LOCKED!

Students of Joseph Sarwuan University of Agriculture Makurdi were today stunned at arriving in school this morning as the institution's gate was locked by indigenes of the community.

According to eye witnesses, the villagers demands power supply from a said Solar plant that generate constant light in the school. They seek to benefit from this light as earlier promised by the institution.

The protest has so far put things on hold as entrance and exit seems difficult.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a notification of a planned massive shutdown of all major cities in Nigeria, effective September 15, 2024.

The protest is in response to the recent fuel price hike and the perceived incompetence of the NNPC Director General, Mele Kyari.

The students union demands an immediate reversal of the fuel price hike and the removal of Mr. Male Kyari as the NNPC Director General.

The students plan to occupy all major cities on September 15, 2024, and have assured that the protest will be peaceful and lawful if NNPC authorities refuse to fulfil the demands of protesters.

The notification has been sent to various security agencies, including the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Chief of Defence Staff, Nigerian Armed Forces, and all State Governors.

A circular issued to pass the shutdown notice reads: “We write to notify you of an impending massive shutdown of all major cities in Nigeria, effective 15th September 2024, in protest of the recent hike in fuel prices and the gross incompetence of the NPC Director General, Mele Kyari.

“The incessant increase in fuel prices has brought untold hardship to the masses, and we can no longer stand idly by while our future is mortgaged by the actions of a few. We demand an immediate reversal of the fuel price hike and the removal of Mr. Kyari as the NNPC DG.

“We call on all Nigerian students across the country to wake up to this clarion call, as we will be occupying all major cities on the 15th of September, 2024. We shall not be silenced, and we shall not be intimidated. We shall rise in unison to demand a better deal for Nigerian

MIKE EJEAGHA HONORED BY ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT

Enugu State Governor honored the legendary Folklorist, Mike Ejeagha by renaming the popular Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike Enugu after him. This is in recognition of his immense contributions to the cultural heritage of Enugu State.

The road which leads to the home of the 94-year-old music legend was rebuilt earlier in the year. It was commissioned today.

The governor and his cabinet also joined the popular “gwo gwo gwo” challenge as they unveiled the new road.
