In the busy city of Port Harcourt lived a girl everyone talked about. Her name was Adaeze. She was known for her striking beauty—smooth brown skin, bright eyes, and a smile that could stop conversations wherever she went. Men admired her everywhere she passed.
But Adaeze had a rule.
If a man did not have money and a car, she would never give him her attention.
Many young men tried their luck.
One afternoon, a hardworking young teacher named Emeka approached her outside a small café. He had admired Adaeze for months. Gathering courage, he greeted her politely.
“Good afternoon, Adaeze. I have always respected you from afar. I would like to know you better.”
Adaeze looked him up and down. His clothes were neat but simple. He had come on foot.
She smiled slightly, but it was not a warm smile.
“Do you have a car?” she asked directly.
Emeka hesitated. “No… but I’m working hard. One day—”
Adaeze interrupted him.
“I don’t date men who trek.”
Her friends laughed as she walked away.
Emeka felt embarrassed, but he quietly left without saying another word.
Months passed. Adaeze continued her life the same way. Only wealthy men who drove big cars could talk to her. She enjoyed expensive dinners, parties, and gifts.
But there was something she didn’t notice.
Most of those men did not truly care about her. They only wanted to show her off like an expensive decoration.
One rainy evening, Adaeze’s car broke down on a lonely road. Her phone battery was dead. The rain poured heavily, and the road became muddy.
Suddenly, a car stopped beside her.
The driver stepped out with an umbrella.
It was Emeka.
But things had changed.
He was now well dressed, confident, and driving a sleek car. After years of hard work, he had started a successful educational company.
Adaeze was shocked.
“Emeka… is that you?”
He smiled calmly. “Yes.”
She suddenly became friendly.
“Wow! I didn’t know you were doing so well now.”
Emeka helped her push her car to the side and called a mechanic for her.
See you......
