TO ALL TEACHERS IN ANAMBRA STATE AND BEYOND: AN OPEN LETTER ON THE VALUE OF RURAL POSTINGS AND AGRICULTURE
Dear Noble Colleagues,
I bring you warm greetings in the name of dedication and purpose.
My name is Mgbechi Emmanuel Igwebuike (Evang.), a proud secondary school teacher at Amikwe Community Secondary School, Omor, Ayamelum LGA, Anambra State. I also serve as the CEO of IGWEBRUS AGROTECH NIGERIA LTD, a growing agro-enterprise specializing in crop production—Rice, Cassava, Yam, and more.
Today, I write to you not just as a fellow teacher, but as a voice of experience and encouragement.
Many of us, when posted to rural communities, often resist or reject such opportunities. Some feel it's a punishment, others see it as a setback. But I want to tell you, working in rural areas is not a disadvantage—it is a golden opportunity.
Rural areas still have one thing many urban locations lack—land. And in land, there is wealth.
As teachers in these communities, we can combine our noble profession with agricultural ventures. It does not require abandoning your duties or compromising your integrity. In fact, it strengthens it. Having a small farm does not interfere with your teaching responsibilities. Instead, it makes you financially stable, self-reliant, and less tempted by corrupt practices.
I am a living proof that you can teach and still run a productive farm. Through IGWEBRUS AGROTECH, I have shown that it is possible to create a second stream of income while impacting lives in the classroom.
I urge you today—stop declining rural postings. Embrace them. Use them. Let the rural soil become the root of your own financial breakthrough.
Let us rise as educators and also as builders of agricultural wealth. This dual role will support our families, boost food production, and reduce the burden of unemployment in our communities.
Let us stop thinking that getting a teaching job is the peak. No! It is just the beginning of what God can do with your life—if you open your heart to new opportunities.
The land is waiting. Are you ready?
Yours in service and purpose,
~Mgbechi Emmanuel Igwebuike (Evang.)
