Yes! Certificates alone don't get you Jobs.
You finish learning a tech skill.
You download your certificate.
You post it online.
People congratulate you.
Then you apply for jobs, and nothing happens.
That moment of confusion is very common, and it was one of the things I stressed during my Tech Readiness Session.
Hereās the truth most people donāt tell you:
Certificates alone don't get you a job.
A certificate only says, āI completed a course.ā
It does not say, āI can handle real work.ā
Employers donāt reject people because they lack certificates.
They reject people because they canāt see proof of work.
This is where many tech learners get stuck - they stop at the certificate.
What should happen next is where experience is built.
After getting the certificate, you must start doing the work:
- Build projects outside the course
- Practice what you learned on real problems
- Take internship or entry-level roles
- Volunteer your skills where possible
Every small task you complete adds to your experience.
Then, you show your work:
- Put your projects on a portfolio or GitHub
- Share your learning and work process on LinkedIn
- Let people see what you can actually do
Over time, something changes.
You stop saying, āI just finished learning.ā
You start saying, āHereās what Iāve worked on.ā
That shift, from certificate to experience, is what gets attention.
And attention is what leads to opportunities.
So yes, get the certificate.
But donāt stop there.
Certificates start the journey.
Experience is what gets you hired.
Thatās real tech readiness
