Childrenās Day is not a yearly excuse for matching outfits, balloons and sugar-coated speeches. It is a yearly audit of the adults.
Because every broken society first failed its children.
A child should be learning mathematics, not learning how to dodge bullets. A child should be holding pencils, not pregnancy tests. A child should be worried about homework, not hunger. Yet across the world, we still see children recruited into terrorism, pushed into child marriage, trafficked into labor, sent to beg on highways, or abandoned to social media and street culture to raise themselves.
And hereās the uncomfortable truth: children rarely destroy themselves alone. Adults fail first.
Parents have the burden to protect children not only from dangerous strangers, but from destructive environments, bad ideologies, negligence, addiction, abuse, and even the consequences of their own immaturity. Society also carries that burden. Because when a generation grows up traumatized, uneducated, violent, addicted or hopeless, everyone eventually pays the price.
The child neglected today becomes the unstable adult tomorrow. The child educated today becomes the doctor, teacher, innovator, leader and parent that secures the future for everyone else.
A civilization that cannot protect its children has already signed its own decline.
So yes, celebrate the children. But remember the real message of Childrenās Day. Protection, Love and Support.
