βCONSUMPTION OF KILLER OIL BEAN, LEAVES 5 PERSONS DEAD IN MBAISE
βMixed feelings have greeted the death of about five persons, including a mother and her four children who reportedly lost their lives in Umuebi Amuzu, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, less than 24 hours after the consumption of oil bean over the weekend.
βThough, medical experts are yet to investigate and make their findings public, but accusing fingers in the area pointed to the oil bean as the last meal the family had.
βSources close to the family members revealed that the oil bean seeds were purchased and sliced accordingly by the affected mother of four children Fidelia Ugbodo Chimezie who also prepared the meal.
βBut luck ran out of the five deceased members of the family on January 2, 2025 when they reportedly consumed the oil bean and had a running stomach overnight.
βAn eye witness stated that three persons died instantly, while others who were taken to Federal Medical Center Owerri couldn't survive the suspected food poison.
βAngry youths from Oboh village also in Amuzu in their numbers led by Kelvin Nwachukwu besieged the Palace of the Traditional Ruler of Amuzu Nweafor Autonomous Community, His Royal Highness Eze Denise Nnaji, alleging that their sister Fidelia Ugbodo and her four children were poisoned, adding that she could not have died with her four children only by consumption of oil being
