My friend lost a business because she was not available to remedy a situation and her staff couldnโt handle it.
I really felt bad for her because that particular client has been a stable source of revenue for her business and guess what happened? One of her employees didnโt do what he was supposed to do for the client, another one that is meant to ensure the work was done also didnโt do that, an issue came up at the client site and everything escalated. Before she could show up to handle the client, issues went out of hand!
This has always been a challenge for my friend, nothing happens in her business without her instructions. Even though she has people working for her, she feels like she does all the work herself. Business is practically on-hold in her absence.
The worst case is that because she is so engrossed in ensuring that things should work as expected, she never gets time to think of how to grow the business. Even though she knows there is a need for growth and she has flickers of ideas in her head, there is no time to work on the growth. she is just engrossed with running a business. She hardly gets time for herself and even her family! Now she is beginning to think entrepreneurship isn't for her!
