Last week I was searching for a driving school. I didn’t ask anyone. I didn’t scroll endlessly on Instagram.
I simply opened my map, typed: “driving schools near me”, and that was it.
Instantly, I saw a list of driving schools with their profiles, addresses, distance from me, photos, phone numbers, and even reviews from people who had used them.
Within minutes, I knew exactly where I wanted to go.
This is the power of Google My Business.
And if I can find a driving school this easily, imagine how many people will be searching for your type of business this festive season:
✨ “restaurants near me”
✨ “salons near me”
✨ “event decorators near me”
✨ “boutiques near me”
✨ “spa near me”
People are searching locally, and you need to show up where they’re looking.
The best part? It is completely FREE to set up.
If you run a small or medium business, and you want more visibility and more walk-ins during this December rush, please don’t skip this.
Here’s how to set up your Google My Business Profile in 8 simple steps:
1. Sign in with your Google account.
Preferably your business email.
2. Go to google.com/business
Tap “Manage now.”
3. Enter your business name.
If it already exists, you can claim it. If not, create a new one.
4. Choose your business category.
e.g., restaurant, salon, hairstylist, fashion store, spa, etc.
5. Add your location or service area.
If customers visit you, add your address.
If you go to them, list your service areas.
6. Add your phone number, website, and business hours.
The more complete your profile, the better.
7. Add photos!
A clear logo, your storefront, your products, your team. visuals attract customers.
8. Verify your business.
Google might send a code via postcard, phone, or email. Once verified, you’re officially live.
And just like that, your business becomes visible to people searching for exactly what you offer, right in your area.
