Fatal mistake!

We all communicate to get response. This means that the quality of response we get has a lot to do with the quality of communication we pass out. So this brings us to the question: How do we communicate?

Quite often, we send out emails, quotations, proposals, manifestos, posters, broadcasts etc. This is a big industry of its own and such communications come with huge budgets, but unfortunately, many venture to use this tools without properly defining the response they want. Ensure the right information are visibly communicated.

Recently I saw a communication for an annual church program of great magnitude to be streamed on Cable television Channels. Imagine such huge investments! Note that there are two communications here: First was posters and broadcasts for invitation to view these Cable Channels. The second is actually the viewing itself. The invitation had the list of Channels, the name of the annual event, the speaker(s), but unfortunately it didn't communicate the date(s) and time(s)of showing this great event. This is such a terrible omission that can mess up the whole publicity process.

This is just a simple example. Many wonder why their CVs can't get them job interviews, others get their proposals rejected or unresponded to. Don't forget, "rejection and no response" are all responses.

THE ROLE OF COMMUNICATION

My wife got a new job as a Manager in her dream Organisation and we both celebrated the successful appointment.

She needs to carry colleagues as well as her Bosses (both on ground and out stationed) along. Only few of her colleagues see her often, but everyone needs to feel her impact. The only way to achieve this is communication. This is the case for many of us today.

We have plans, targets, deadlines and more, but they all reside in our heads. Your Boss can't wait till you show him results, he needs to be assured you are on track even before deadline. Your subordinates need to know where and how to come in. Your colleagues too need to be carried along also as your support system. No matter how brilliant you are, but cannot effectively communicate, you will end up a failure.

My Boss Isn't Human!

Now, who do you think is the boss? Is it the dude that sits
at that executive chair, in an exotic and lavishly furnished
office, that gives all the instructions? C’mon, don’t even
think that because you have a bulk of humans under you
makes you “The Boss”. You don’t get it; the boss isn’t the
boss because of anybody hired – even the owner of the
company was hired! The real boss is the purpose for which
the company or organization was birthed. If the owner of
the company is going to remain the owner, s/he must pay
attention to his boss – the vision of the company.
