One thing I wish I understood earlier as a beginner SMM is that branding is deeper than “making posts look nice.”

A lot of small business pages looks unprofessional usually because the branding feels scattered.

And sometimes, small things like:
The colours
Editing style
Content direction
Fonts
Even the feeling of the page

…can completely change how people perceive a business online.

The moment I started paying attention to branding and consistency, content creation became easier and pages started looking more intentional.

These are a few simple things that helped me, especially as a beginner SMM.

Save this for later

Reading messages like this honestly means a lot to me because I know the courage it takes for someone to invest in themselves and start learning something new.

One thing we always try to focus on in the classes is ensuring that the lessons are practical, understandable, and easy to implement. We are not interested in just getting the students to watch classes, they should actually understand what they’re watching and feel confident enough to apply it.

Seeing students say things like: “I finally understand this” “This was easier than I expected” “I’m excited to implement what I’ve learned”

…will always make me happy.

Thank you so much to everyone who has trusted me enough to learn from me so far. I genuinely do not take it for granted

Social media success is not about perfection. It’s about showing up constantly, trusting your strategy and being consistent even when the results aren’t instant. It’s about understanding your audience deeply and creating contents that resonates.

When your content reflects who you truly are and what your brand stands for, that’s when real connection happens.

Handling negative comments isn’t just about replying, it’s about protecting and strengthening a brand’s online reputation.

As a social media manager, you’ll deal with all kinds of feedback some constructive, some downright hateful. How you handle them can make or break your client’s brand perception.

Here’s what you need to remember:

1.) Stay calm and professional – Never react emotionally. Your response represents the brand.
2.) Respond quickly, but strategically – Leaving negative comments unanswered can damage trust.
3.) Acknowledge real concerns – Show empathy and offer solutions.
4.) Handle trolls wisely – Not every comment deserves a response. Hide, delete, or block when necessary.
5.) Turn feedback into growth – Even criticism can be useful for improving the brand’s reputation.

Managing the comments section is an art and a skill. And if you want to master it (plus learn everything about social media management, Canva design, video editing, and Meta Ads), SMMI is the place for you.
