Starting count: 351 chicks (326 Broilers, 10 Turkeys, 15 Cockerels)

Mortality: Only 3 total (1 Broiler, 1 Turkey, 1 Cockerel)

Moving 348 strong, healthy birds into their new big space today! 🐣✨ Out of 351 chicks, we’ve maintained a 99% survival rate over nearly 3 weeks just 1 broiler, 1 turkey, and 1 cockerel lost. Proper brooding, strong management, and constant care pay off. Watch them stretch their wings! 🐥🦃🐓

Yesterday marked 15 days for my broilers, and it was time for their Gumboro (Infectious Bursal Disease) vaccination. Maintaining strict vaccination protocols is the key to preventing disease and ensuring healthy growth.

🐔 ALL BROILERS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL! 👀

If your birds aren’t growing as fast as the farm next door, don’t panic just yet! Different broiler breeds have different growth rates, weights, and needs.
Here is what actually determines your flock's success:
🧬 Genetics (The Breed): Breeds like Cobb 500 or Ross 308 are bred for fast growth and big weight, while dual-purpose or slower-growing breeds take more time.
🌾 Feed Quality: The best genetics won't work if the feed lacks the right protein and energy balance.
💧 Management: Proper water, clean bedding, good ventilation, and heat control make or break your final weight.

Stop comparing your 4-week-old birds to someone else's unless you are feeding the exact same thing to the exact same breed!

Some farmers get mind oooo 😂🐔

You visit your farm every day and see your birds active and running around, so you assume everything is okay.

But have you noticed a sudden change in their droppings? 🧐

Green poo. Brown poo. White poo. Watery poo.

Sometimes, these are signs your birds are trying to tell you something is wrong.

Chicken no dey talk to us directly, but they communicate through their droppings, feeding behaviour, movement and attitude.

When one or two birds suddenly withdraw from feed or become less active, pay attention.

Yes, sometimes everything looks perfect at night and you wake up to mortality. It happens.

But as a farmer, don’t ignore small changes. Early observation can save your flock and prevent bigger losses.

🐔 Watch your birds. Check their poo. Notice their behaviour. Act early.

Your birds are always communicating—you just need to listen.

When chicks cluster together, they’re telling you they’re cold. 🐥❄️

Huddling under the heat source is a clear sign that the brooding temperature is too low or the heat isn’t evenly distributed. Adjust the heat immediately to prevent stress, poor growth, and possible mortality.

Healthy chicks should be evenly spread out, active, and eating well.
