I'm sure you've heard these marketing tips before but let me repeat them for those who haven't.

1— Your product must solve a problem.

2— Make an irresistible offer. Add incentives to sweeten the deal.

Now let me tell you one piece of information most people often forget. It trumps the above tips and all the other tips and strategies you can think of.

— If you must sell anything, you must be 100% honest.

You must ensure that your product actually solves the problem you claim it solves, and you must ensure that your incentives are not dubious.

I've seen a lot of cases of customers dragging vendors online for false claims and all sorts of embarrassing allegations.

Don't ruin your reputation over money, no matter how much. Conduct your business in total honesty.

While trying to make irresistible offers, some will offer "money-back guarantees" they don't intend to honour. I've seen many nasty cases of this.

People often overlook the importance of emotional intelligence.

At his peak, Mike Tyson's net worth was said to be around $300 million, now it's around $10 million.

Yea, he is still richer than a lot of people, but to say he fell from grace is a gross understatement.

After the r**e allegation and jail term served, Iron Mike came out to face Evander Hollyfield. Due to Evander's poor form, many thought it would be an easy win for the Iron Mike.

But to everyone's surprise, Evander, the underdog clearly dominated Mike till the match came to the logical end as Evander emerged the winner.

A rematch was arranged and the hype was crazy. The rematch grossed almost double the amount of the first fight. Evander was to be paid $35 million being the champion and Tyson, $30 million as the challenger.

This match would be the end of the reign of the Iron Mike as he let his emotions get the better of him.

It's not about selling. It's about solving a problem. A lot of people have unique difficulties that they need help with. If you are concerned with helping them more than you are about making money, your value to them will become apparent.

Focus on building relationships first, because brands are built on the relationships you have with people. The rest will come later.

Money is a product of your value. So does it even make sense to try to sell to someone who doesn't know your value?

I Just Received Great News This Morning!!!

Last week, a friend of mine who was seriously struggling with money issues had approached me to ask me how he could make some money.

I asked him about his business (he makes very beautiful leather bags) and he said "it's fine", but he hasn't gotten any orders in almost 3 weeks.

I immediately thought that the best way to help my friend would be through his own business.

So I told him that customers won't appear from thin air, he has to attract them and obviously, he wasn't doing enough.

For the next 6 days, we worked intensively on trying to make his brand more visible and attractive on social media.

To be frank, I'm no expert, but I know a few and they were glad to help. It wasn't free, but with what we got, we should have paid a lot more.

About 5 days ago, he texted me and told me he had 4 solid prospects that might make orders soon.

And just this morning, he called to say he would be unavailable for some time due to some personal issues. I was worried so I asked him what had happened.

Excitedly, he announced that 3 of the solid prospects he told me about had made and paid for their orders.

WOOOOW!!!🥳🥳🥳

Orders worth over N320k and he has 3 weeks to deliver all the bags, hence his "unavailability status". We talked a bit longer before he had to go.

Look, there's no easy way out of these hard times. Whether it's a job or a business. Nigeria is hard on everyone.

But if you have a business and you don't make sales, it will be really hard for you.
