There is a latin maxim that says ignorantia juris neminen non excusat which translates to mean that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. This explains why it is quite significant as a citizen of Nigeria to be abreast of the extant laws of the land before one ventures into any aimless and fruitless discussions and passage of vituperative remarks about the actions and decisions of this administration because of political sentiments and primordial affiliations of any sort.
A lot of People are today criticizing the actions of the present Government without of course reading or having firm grip of the Local Government Law of Plateau State and unknown to our People, the actions of the Governor and indeed the State Assembly are justified by a legal instrument warranting and permitting such an exercise in that respect thereof.
To begin with, the 9th Assembly led by Rt. Hon. Abok Ayuba received petitions bothering on complains and or allegations of infractions and financial embezzlements and misappropriations by the various chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas. The said Chairmen were invited but out of disregard and disrespect to the legislative puissance, refused to honour the invitation which resulted to the suspension of the said Chairmen to enable smooth investigations of the alleged infractions according to law. The State Assembly derived inspiration to act in such manner by virtue of Section 6 of the Plateau State Local Government Council Law, 2016. Legal Notice No. 3 Vol. 1 published on the 29th August 2018 which provides:
