“Don’t fear your competitors. Fear your Customer’s indifference.”

Weeks ago when Iniobong opened her small smoothie shop in Uyo, she was surrounded by competitors, bright signboards, big blenders, and bold discounts everywhere.

At first, she worried about how she would survive. Every time a new shop opened nearby, she’d lose sleep thinking about how much better or cheaper they might be.

But one day, she overheard a customer say, “I like her smoothies because she remembers how I like them — not too cold, and with a smile.”

That was the moment it clicked.
Her real challenge wasn’t the shop next door. It was making sure her customers cared enough to come back.

So, she stopped comparing prices and started building real connections with her customers, from learning names, celebrating birthdays, asking for feedback among others. Within months, her small smoothie shop became the go-to place in the area, not because it was the cheapest, but because it was the most human and customer friendly.
