Online activist VeryDarkMan has jokingly responded to critics who claimed he did not have the professional experience required to be invited to speak at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference.

This comes after Femi Falana SAN questioned why the NBA invited VDM to speak at its 66th Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt. Falana argued that when the NBA discusses specialised matters such as national security, speakers should have demonstrable professional experience or expertise in the country’s security architecture.

In a humorous reaction, VDM dressed in a lawyer’s gown and wig while pretending to address a court. He said:

“If I may, if I may, my lords, since you people decided to ignore all the points I raised at the NBA, all the points I raised about the insecurity, the people benefiting, you people decided to distract yourself by judging me and saying I was not fit to be there because I’m not a lawyer.

I’ve been called to bar. Now, you are now my learned colleagues. Can we now talk about the insecurity of the country? Yes.

So, according to Section 343 of the VDM Constitution, he who prays must pay. And if you play, you’re going to learn. And you will learn the hard way.”

We Are in a Quagmire: The Painful Reality of the Kidnapped victims in Ogbomoso Villages, Ahoro Esin-Ele & Yawota Village

Fresh videos released by the abducted teachers, pupils, and principal from Oriire in Ogbomoso vilages have once again exposed the frightening reality of their captivity and the deep dilemma confronting the government and security agencies.

In the heartbreaking footage, the victims passionately appealed to both the Federal and State Governments to avoid any forceful rescue operation, warning that such actions could provoke deadly retaliation from the bandits. Their voices were filled with fear, desperation, and uncertainty as they pleaded for their lives to be spared.

Their locations I strongly believed have been known and surrounded but the collateral damages will be inevitable. What a Quagmire 😭

One of the women in the video cried emotionally in Yoruba, “Ẹ ma bawọn já,” meaning “Please don’t engage them in battle.” Her statement reflected the terrifying threats allegedly being issued by the kidnappers that any attempt by security operatives to storm their hideout would lead to the ex*****on of more innocent captives, already Mr M. Oyedokun was slainned few days ago😭

The school principal Mrs Alamu, who also appeared in the video, stated clearly that continued forceful rescue attempts were only worsening the danger facing the victims as the bandits are becoming more violent and impatient. According to her, the kidnappers had already marked another victim to be killed if military forceful rescue pressure persisted. She warned that a gun battle between security operatives and the bandits yesterday resulted in more trouble for them as the victims and more innocent lives maybe lost, particularly the children who remain trapped in the forest.

This development has sparked intense reactions and difficult conversations among Nigerians. Many believe that security agencies already know the location of the kidnappers, trapped the forest but are unable to launch a direct assault because of the high possibility of collateral damage. Unlike technologically advanced nations that may deploy sophisticated intelligence systems and precision rescue strategies, Nigeria’s security realities remain far more complicated and fragile.

As a result only requests is dialogue with the state government only as they requwsted, and the government appears to have resorted to negotiation as the safer alternative as the government has again promised that they will be freed, despite growing public frustration over the possibility that the criminals could eventually escape justice if negotiations continue. To many citizens felt, it is painful and unacceptable that after locating the abductors, authorities may still be forced into negotiations while innocent lives hang in the balance. Else the bandits kill our people and also kill themselves.😭

The other alternative in our clime is spiritual means but those who have such powers are either not co-opted or are careful to come out in order not to be witch-hunted later. Are there not people who move in the air? Those who command thousands of bees. That is the situation we have found ourselves. May God work and walk miraculously! Amen.

What remains undeniable, however, is that the nation finds itself in a painful quagmire a situation where every available option carries devastating consequences. A forceful rescue could cost innocent lives, while prolonged negotiations may embolden criminals and weaken public confidence in the government’s ability to protect its citizens and lead to a win-win situation where the bandits will be freed and victims freed also😭😭

As Nigerians continue to watch these disturbing videos with grief and anger, the prayers of many remain the same: that wisdom, courage, and divine intervention will prevail, and that the victims will return home safely without further bloodshed, forget not that we have tens of children who are between age 1½-8yrs and it's been 15days under the sun, cold and rain😭😭

So sad!! Nigeria will not loose this particular one. Amen 🙏🏽
