The Manner of Prayer
You must understand something fundamental about spiritual growth: it never happens accidentally. Growth in God requires order, intention, and discipline. If you truly want to grow in prayer, you must regiment your life around it. That is why spiritual communities that are serious with God establish what is called an hour of prayer.
No matter how busy you become, no matter how demanding your profession is, no matter how much money is on the table or how much your future seems to be calling for your attention, when the time for prayer comes, everything else must pause. Prayer is not something you fit into life; prayer is what gives life direction.
The weightiest substance in the Christian life is prayer. Everything else draws its strength from it. Teaching draws life from prayer. Fellowship draws life from prayer. Spiritual intimacy draws life from prayer. Prayer is the energy that powers every true spiritual operation. That was the secret of the early believers: prayer was not optional, it was organized.
It was deliberate. It was consistent. When a spiritual community begins to take root anywhere in the world, it is always because prayer has been given structure and priority. That structure gives everyone who is serious about God the opportunity to exercise their spirit. Many people would have walked powerfully in spiritual gifts by now if they had been intentional about developing their inner life.
But instead, prayer became optional. Sometimes you were available, sometimes you were not. And without realizing it, you passed that weakness on. Your children never saw a burning passion for God in you. They never saw discipline. They never saw sacrifice. They never saw spiritual hunger modeled before them. And then suddenly, you are worried about the confusion they carry, when the fire that should have shaped them was never consistently present.
If you cannot respond to a structured prayer life in community, you cannot sustain one privately. The discipline you learn in a shared environment is what trains you for personal depth. That is how spiritual capacity is built—gradually, intentionally, faithfully. When prayer becomes structured, your spirit stretches. What once felt impossible becomes normal.
Depth becomes accessible. Sensitivity becomes sharp. Revelation becomes familiar. When prayer is established, something else happens: you stop living empty. There may be moments when your finances cannot answer every demand. There may be times when your resources feel insufficient. But you are not empty. You begin to realize that beyond money, beyond material supply, there is a spiritual account you are carrying.
And that account is filled with authority, power, and life in God. The tragedy of many lives is not lack of money; it is lack of spiritual substance. This is an enlightening message by Apostle Arome Osayi on the power and benefits of building a regimented and consistent prayer life and prayer time—it's an instruction for every Believer as we journey in 2026: make sure you set a fixed daily time for prayer and build a fervent prayer altar to do this consistently – you can get the full message of this write-up in the comment section of this post.
This message is to revive every Christian’s prayer altar — to return to a life of holiness, spiritual discipline, and consistent fellowship with God in prayer. The name of Jesus has been given to every believer, and with that name comes authority. We are called to know it, believe it, and exercise it. The message will help you to keep your fire burning, keep your altar alive, and to remain steadfast in prayer—watch and you will be greatly blessed.
