Keep the child alive is such an often repeated slogan, moto and advice. Yet, is the society ready to let a child be a child?

When a child sees a puddle, it wants to jump in it. We prevent the child. He/she sees fun and we see infection, cleaning work, public shame.
Public shame being the biggest concern.

The "Good Boy/Girl" is someone who troubles their elders the least, does exactly what he/she is told or nothing at all.

In that case, childhood gets substituted with a Mini-Adulthood and children start getting tired of life already. Their only means to seeking validation becomes getting marks, getting admissions and performance.

What are we teaching them? What are we telling them? That if they don't adhere to a set of standards... They are unloved, useless, stupid?
Adults use these phrases on a child as young as a 5yr old!
How does a child of 5 begin to process his use? What use are we going to put a child to?

Children are not a poetry reciting device nor are they a means to show off!
If you think your child is useless or stupid... Kindly seek help from qualified professionals.

A child needs to mess about, needs to explore. Needs to make a million mistakes.
Teach the kid to clean up their messes, and teach them to explore.
Applaud their flights of fancy and jump in that puddle along with them. Make sure that you are wearing proper shoes.

People??? Puhleeeseeee! Do what a child would do. Don't care.

I am a mother to a messy naughty child and to anyone who tells me that my kid will make me suffer.. yes. My kid. I did not make an investment when I gave birth to him. So I am not looking at returns. I am looking at joy and laughter that he has filled my life to the brim with.

In his every mistake his mom is going to first cheer him for trying and then teach him to know better.

We are happy today. Future... Who cares!!!

We are trained to avoid conflict. Don't argue. Listen to your parents. Don't question. Do. Work. Sweep it under the rug. Let time take care of it. Distract yourself.

These all work. But Not everytime.

Depending upon the situation. Our generation is exploring the power of conflicts. In a modern civilized and thoughtful manner. How? By listening to both sides. By changing the situation. Not the people.

And because, we can. We must. If not us, then who?

Do I want my child to be saddled with the shackles of the past? At the same time, do I want to fight every battle that comes my way?
Should I not look at better solutions?

So many thoughts are chasing one another. Whirling within me.

First, we really need to stop seeking validation. It gives others power to influence/manipulate our minds. We need to break this. We need to be able to say "yes. I will learn from my experiences. I will suffer the consequences."

Second, we need to turn a deaf ear on many things that upset us. Small stuff. Usually what we perceive was an insult or that particular tone of voice or choice of words or timing. Ignore. Ignore. Ignore. Ignore. Don't carry this burden nor do you need to 'sort' it. Our energy needs better outlet than setting every fool straight.

But, when you think you must... Dig in and fight. With all your might and heart and sincerity. Make sure you are fighting the right reasons though. Fight a cause. Not a person.

Third. Power of creativity. We need to really get on to harness this. I am a writer, I think/fancy. So, I write. So what if only a handful of you will read. It's good enough for me.
Even if none of you will read what I write, I will still write.

Fourth. Appreciation.
I am grateful. Whatever little that's stuck with me, I am grateful. I am happy. New day, rains, roses, smiles. People. Surviving so far.

Fifth. We all fail. We must. At one point or another. No failure is bigger or smaller. Just lessons. Little stumbling blocks. Stop judging yourself or defining yourself or anyone really, by those.

Sixth. Love yourself. If you don't, no one else will.

Seventh. Spread joy. Bring happiness. Shower love. Your actions might be wrong, but never let the intention be.

Allow yourself a break. Or that at times you too can break. But then again, get up. Love. Fight. Appreciate. Ignore. Create. Spread joy. Love. Ignore. Create. Spread joy. Appreciate.....

Repeat.

Regards ♥️

Dear Confused Teen

Life will be as simple as you make it.
Don't overthink anything. Not your choices or decisions or comments or opinions.

Clothes are less important than the person wearing them. Love the skin you are in. Make that skin a bit thick.

The world will be fighting you, because it owes you nothing. If you demand like a princess, you will only get disappointments. Embrace it like a friend.

Believe in yourself. Even in your mistakes. This is your age to eat ice cream with pakode, to dance in the rain, to daydream a bit. To be about out of the way. Those moments will be sorely remembered and treasured in your thirties. Make sure you have a full album of such memories.

Question the status quo. Feel passionate towards a cause, a book, a writer, anything under the sun. Stay informed. Enrich your mind.

Exercise. Have fun. Break a few rules too. Travel. As much as you can.

Love your mom. Call her often. Leaving home will make her more precious to you. Include her in your life. She will now be the best friend you never had. This bond will only get stronger with the years.

Learn to forgive more easily. Don't carry baggages. Drift about a bit.

Pick up a habit. A hobby. Hone your character. Participate in everything. You don't have to be good at it or win awards. Just do it for fun, at the very least.

Find infatuations amusing. Take them at face value. But know the real feeling of love. Don't risk your heart too early.

Grades matter. So study hard.

Friendships are important. Take yourself seriously enough to form real friendships.

Learn to roll with the punches. Life isn't fair. You will get knocked about a bit. Learn to shrug it off.

Learn to pull no punches. Learn to fight back. Learn to never mix your drinks. Learn to come home with a light step and open heart.

Learn to love everyone. Learn to love yourself. Learn that as long as you have you, you are not lonely. Learn to befriend yourself.

Leave your thoughts and comments please. Share ♥️
