Creating a Brand Kit in Canva allows you to set brand colours, fonts and styles to anything you create, or even to re-format a Canva template to suit your brand. It doesn't stop there, you can add guidelines across brand voice and images. Essential if more than one person is handling Canva Designs for your business.

Can we talk about file formats for a second? 👀

Just because a logo exists… doesn’t mean it’s usable everywhere.

A logo supplied in a Word document, screenshot, ChatGPT creation, or blurry JPEG might look “fine” on screen, but when it comes to printing, signage, embroidery, websites, or scaling it properly? Things can fall apart pretty quickly.

Printers and suppliers often need specific file types to make things work correctly, and without them, you can end up with fuzzy prints, missing backgrounds, colour issues, or a straight-up “sorry, we can’t use this.”

Ideally, you want to get the right file formats from the beginning. But if you’re already in the “my cousin made this in 2017 and now I need it on a billboard” stage… don’t panic 😅

Recreating and rebuilding existing logos into proper, usable formats is something I help with from time to time, so if all you’ve got is a Word doc, I can probably still help get things sorted.

Templates are there to support your ideas, not replace them. Use them as a foundation as they are a fantastic starting point, especially when you’re short on time or not sure of platform sizing requirements, but remember the strongest Canva designs are the ones that feel like your brand, not everyone else’s.

Canva allows you to search very specifically for what you are after, so think about your template prompts carefully with the intention to make customisation easier.

Customise the templates with your own colours, fonts, imagery, spacing, and layout tweaks to create something more recognisable and professional for your brand.

This is the reality of overflow and white-label design support.

When agencies, in-house teams, consultants, and production partners bring me in, the goal isn’t for my work to stand out as “freelance support.” The goal is for it to integrate so seamlessly into the existing workflow that clients never know an external designer was involved.

I work quietly alongside existing teams to help manage workload spikes, tight deadlines, staff coverage, and high-volume production periods, without disrupting established systems or client relationships, without the commitment of hiring extra permanent staff.

Today’s Pink Shirt Day 💗

No makeup, messy hair, straight out of school drop-offs and client visits…. but I remembered the pink shirt.

As a parent, freelancer, and someone who works closely with small businesses, I think kindness matters a lot.

A small comment, message, invitation, compliment, or moment of understanding can genuinely change someone’s day, especially when you never know what they might be carrying behind the scenes.

So today’s a good reminder to lead with kindness, both online and off.
