I’ve just finished another website, and this one is a particularly lovely one to have been involved with. 🐐

Gleeful Goats is a Taranaki business making beautiful goat milk soaps and skincare products, using milk from their own goats.

I first met Belinda a few years ago when she donated some of her products to a local charity raffle I was running. So it’s pretty cool to have gone from that first introduction to now having the opportunity to create her website.

And yes, I’ve met the goats. They’re gorgeous. 😂

It’s always a bit more special working with local businesses where you get to know the person, the story and what goes into what they make.

A new brand, a refined digital presence, and a company ready to launch.

It was a pleasure working with The Bid and Brand Collective as they prepared to launch their new business.

Phoenix Design was brought on to develop the brand identity and create a cohesive visual foundation for the business, including:

- Brand identity
- Brand guidelines
- Business cards
- Website refinement and SEO

The website was already well underway, so rather than starting from scratch, I worked within the existing site to refine the design, strengthen the user experience, improve visual hierarchy and ensure everything aligned with the new brand. And of course, get the Background and on-page SEO in place!

The result is a professional, cohesive brand that is ready to support Bid & Brand Collective as they step into this next chapter.

One of my clients recently rebranded.

Was I offended that the branding I created a few years ago was no longer wanted? NO WAY! 😁

Evolution of a business is something I always enjoy seeing, as it shows they are growing and learning and most importantly listening... and the response to understanding their clients needs is to shift with those needs.

Last month Jo's Massage Haven became Jo's Healing Haven and Phoenix Design handled the rebrand... a new logo, new brand aesthetic, new cards and vouchers and most importantly... making sure the website update was ready to go when Jo was ready to launch.

This awesome expo display is off to Melbourne to be loaded up with Getting Lost games and I’m so pumped to have been the graphic designer on the job. From creating the characters through to making sure all parts of the bus they are passengers on line up! A design that looks great on Instagram might not work on Facebook, LinkedIn or your website.

Before publishing, check how your design adapts to different dimensions. Text may become too small, images may crop awkwardly, and layouts can lose their impact. Canva's Resize feature (available on Pro) can save time, but it's still worth reviewing each version.

Colour should do more than make your design look attractive—it should have a purpose.

Use your brand colours consistently to build recognition, then use accent colours to draw attention to important information such as headings, buttons or calls to action. Too many competing colours can distract from your message.

When colour is used intentionally, it guides your audience exactly where you want them to look.

When designing three-dimensional pieces such as point-of-sale displays, CDUs, and expo displays, it’s important to think beyond what looks good on a screen.

During the design process, I often create a scaled mock-up to test folds, panel placement, artwork alignment, and overall functionality. It’s a simple step that can help identify potential issues well before print and ensures the finished product works as intended.

This miniature lets me physically check how everything comes together in the real world (plus they’re kinda cute 🥰)

I’ve also done these using modelling software, but it’s just as effective to go old school with paper and scissors (and sometimes quicker…).

Good design isn’t just about how something looks—it’s about making sure it works. ✨
