Logos are one of the first things your audience will latch onto, so it’s important to make sure your can be seen (and looks its best) in every situation. That’s where a ‘logo system’ comes in!

A logo system is just a set of different variations of your logo, so you can plonk your logo comfortably wherever. Take the logo we created for Heart of the Bays, for example.

Logo Systems are typically made up of these forms:
• Primary Logo - Includes your Name, Tagline, and Icon. It’s what you'll put on all your websites, print, and signage.
• Horizontal Logo - All your logo elements lined up side by side. Great for long, narrow spaces.
• Stacked Logo - Your elements stacked vertically. Perfect for tighter, square-ish spaces.
• Logomark - Just the icon. Ideal for favicons, app icons, or anywhere tiny.

Here’s some additional forms to consider incorporating for maximum visibility:
• Submark - Simplified, often circular version of your primary logo. Think stamp-style.
• Wordmark - Just your brand name, no icon. For clean layouts or places where your icon feels out of place.
• One-Colour Logo - Good to have a black and a white version on hand for use on tricky backgrounds where your usual colour palette doesn't work.

Having a solid logo system makes your brand feel intentional. There’s no weird stretching, cramming, or last-minute redesigns. It’s just clean and cohesive!

If a coffee shop known for their puns suddenly stopped making them, customers might wonder if more than just their tone had changed.

Did the coffee change too? Is this still the same brand they loved?

That’s why brand consistency is so important. Luckily, there’s a handy little thing called Brand Guidelines that help make sure that doesn’t happen.

Brand guidelines are the rulebook for how your brand presents itself to the world. It covers the design-y stuff like your colour palette, logo usage, and typography. But it also includes the deeper bits like your brand’s mission statement, personality, tone of voice, and story.

No matter what’s being designed or written, your brand guidelines help make sure it all feels true to your brand.

The best brands aren’t random. They’re recognisable, and that comes from looking consistent, every time.

If you’re after a friendlier, more engaging vibe, a mascot might be what you’re looking for. While logos are great for recognition, a mascot lives your brand. They embody your personality, tone, values, and story. This makes them perfect for boosting brand recognition and connecting with your audience.

Before you start crafting your little guy, keep your audience in mind. This character needs to resonate with them. What’s something you want your audience to feel while they interact with your brand. If it’s relaxed, make your mascot a chill guy. Want to pump your audience up, go for bubbly, bright, and bold.

Just don’t forget your brand’s personality. Your mascot and brand should work together, they’re part of the same story!

To use a mascot to its fullest, you’ll need to dig deep into your brand, your message, and your audience.

You want your new spokesperson to make sense, right?

Everyone wants to be the main character.

And while that mindset works for a lot of things, it doesn’t quite work for brand storytelling.

Your brand’s history is important, but most people don’t care how a corporate business started. (They’d much prefer to hear about your journey, but that’s what personal branding is for)

When it comes to corporate brand storytelling, your customer is the main character.

Where would you even be without them?

And you?

You’re their guide or the tool that helps the main character achieve victory! Here’s how you start building that story.

Every good story needs conflict. It’s time to figure out your main character’s.
What do your customers struggle with? What obstacles are standing in their way?

Enter: your brand.

How are you going to assist the main character in defeating their conflict?

Think about your brand’s purpose, what does your brand do? Why does your brand exist?

Interweave your mission statement and values into supporting your customers.

After that, you’ll see some kind of story forming. If your customers are the focus, their problems are relatable, and your brand helps them win: you know you’re on the right track.

All that said, figuring all this out is hard.

With so many brands out there, finding your audience is tough.
Even tougher for your audience to find you.

That’s why familiarity matters.

By using icons and symbols people already understand, you help your audience find exactly what they’re looking for.
Eco brands use earthy colours like greens and browns. Their icons tend to have trees or leaves.
Fitness brands use bold reds to give the feeling of energy. Their designs have lots of dynamic lines and maybe an image of a runner.

“But, now I look exactly like everyone else?”
Not quite.

It’s way better to stand out in the right crowd than be a bakery that people think is a mechanic’s.

Once you’ve nailed familiarity, that’s when the real fun starts. Twist the expected into something fresh. Still recognisable, but now it’s got that spark your audience is drawn to.

Picasso had to master realism before he could paint cubism.

Time to twist and freshen up your branding?

Hospice is all about nurturing connection, and their newsletter is one of the ways they show it. Thoughtfully written in a comforting tone, it helps readers feel seen and supported.

We work closely with Hospice to ensure each newsletter is designed to reflect that same warmth. By gently framing the articles within their branding and keeping the layout clear and readable, the newsletter becomes an extension of their care and dedication to their patients.

We’re honoured to help bring this newsletter to life and we’re excited every quarter to design these up!

Getting customers? Great.

Getting loyal, passionate customers? Now that’s even better.

We’re sure you’ve heard of them: the iPhone diehards, the Nike enthusiasts, the Starbucks stans. They all line up for the new releases. They rave about their favourite products. And they try convert their friends too.

That’s the kind of love you want for your brand.

Loyal customers stick around because they trust you. Because your brand speaks to them. Buying from anyone else could feel like a betrayal. It takes time to build up that kind of following, but it’s worth it.

First you want to dig deep, uncover the real passions behind your brand.

Find something that your brand and your audience can connect with. Is it a shared love for innovation? A mutual care for the planet? Whatever it is, you need to be genuine about it.

People don’t appreciate being lied to, and they can tell too.

Build something real and soon you’ll have found yourself with customers who won’t just buy from you, they’ll believe in you.

Wanna uncover passions behind your business?

Two heads are better than one, let’s do it together.

Another great website completed Introducing Corban Revell Lawyers’ new website!

It’s a fresh, modern digital presence that reflects the evolution of their brand. But this wasn’t just a website project. Behind the scenes, we developed a comprehensive brand and communications strategy, updating their visual and verbal identity, refining their messaging, and shaping a new tone of voice that speaks to who they are today and where they’re going next.

With a strong presence in West Auckland and a global client base, they needed a site that reflected both their legacy and their values. The final result does exactly that. Grounded, elegant, and full of purpose.

And like all great things, it came together through strong collaboration.

Our team shaped the words, while the ever-talented Imelda from Two Sparrows : Graphic Design brought the vision to life.

Her websites aren’t just beautifully designed, they’re works of art that are accessible to all and sustainable to the core. Working alongside her is always a creative joy for the team.

Even though we say we shouldn’t, people will continue to judge books by their covers.

And they’ll do the same with your branding.

Bright and colourful? They’ll expect something fun.
Traditional and cursive? Gotta be something formal.

Get it right, and you’ll build a brand that’s strong, memorable, and instantly recognisable. Get it wrong? You might confuse and push away your audience.

Your logo and branding should reflect who you are: your values, your mission, your story. When it all aligns, customers won’t just recognise your brand–they’ll connect with it.

Feeling ready to rethink your branding? We’re just a call away.

Saying you have “lower prices” and “higher quality” isn’t how you stand out. Everyone says that. If everyone’s different in the same way, are they really different?

Instead, craft yourself an enemy. Not a competitor, but an idea that goes completely against everything your brand stands for.

What challenges do your customers face?

What problem does your brand exist to solve? Make that problem the villain and position yourself as the hero. People love a hero. Even more? They love rallying behind one.

Disney fights against growing up, Nike against self-doubt, and you can even find brands fighting against each other: Apple vs Microsoft or Pepsi vs Coke.

Choosing your enemy is a bold move. Need help picking your fight? We’re your trusty sidekick.

After their recent rebrand, NZCC believed it was time for Lyceum to start it’s Bold New Era too. This year they’re focused on growth and looking ahead at what’s coming next in the world of chiropractic.

So we got to work. We dug deep into what a Bold New Era really meant for Lyceum and once we’d locked onto that feeling, we got designing. We explored the different visions of the future, imagined what it could be, what it should be. The result is a Frutiger Aurora-inspired design with a modern twist.

We’ve been lucky to work alongside MC2 for the past few years, a local print broker who truly knows her stuff. From full design work to refining tricky print files, we’ve teamed up on a bunch of projects, and every time she brings the same thing to the table: incredibly high standards and a genuine love for getting it right.

Print files might not be glamorous, but when they’re off, you know. That’s why working with someone like MC2 makes all the difference. She pushes for excellence in every detail, and it shows in the final product.

We love every job that comes through MC2, because we know it’ll be held to the highest standard. Here’s to more print magic ahead!
