We come from a background in digital marketing,
working across a range of industries, from travel to retail
and ecommerce, to hospitality. And over the years, we
started to notice that in the mess of engagement rates,
newsfeed updates, ad trends and the occasional questionable
dancing – we forgot that all good marketing rests on one
solid foundation, a foundation that has existed since, well,

e people were able to write. It’s the books on your shelves,
the posters hung up in your childhood bedroom, this very
document. It’s boring, technical and instructional. It’s ground-
breaking, epic and awe-inspiring. And yes, it’s our social
media, our ads, our emails and our brands. Armed with this realization, we built Jot & Follow to bridge
the gap between a foundation of strong content and the digital
marketing ecosystem for businesses both small and large
from the world over. We work from the ground up, establishing a brand presence
through copy and content that resonates with people (yep
that’s right – humans first, not algorithms). Then, after we’ve
built that base, that’s when we start using those good ol’ digital
marketing tactics like SEO, organic social media, paid digital
and email marketing to drive your business. We’re here for as long as you need us. So, if you just want a few lines of copy for an ad, we’ve got you. But if you’re wanting us to work alongside for you the length
of an entire content project or to implement multiple tactics

Is branding your vehicle cringe? 😬

Maybe.

But also… turns out, it works.

Why? Because it gives a moment of pause to ask, “What’s that?”

And that pause?
That’s the point.

Vehicle branding is one of the few marketing channels that is on all the time, building familiarity long before someone needs your product or service.

Is it subtle? Enh, not really.
Is it effective? Definitely.

Marketing doesn’t always have to be clever. Sometimes it just has to show up consistently, repeatedly, and in the right places.

Taking a moment today to think back on the last year of J&F and being self-employed 💭

From side hustle to fully-fledged company, it hasn’t always been the smoothest of transitions, but I’ve never felt more confident in my decision to so than I do now. It has been challenging, overwhelming, and, at times, tear-inducing. But so worth it, and so fulfilling.

Sitting here today, I think the best part of the last year has been realizing exactly what it is that I do. I’m sure a lot of fellow business owners will understand this seemingly self-imposed obligation to “say yes to everything” in the name of building momentum.

And it’s probably the right way to get started (I’ll let someone else theorize on that). But for J&F, in this next year, I really want to focus on the work that I enjoy the most.

My bread and butter is fractional marketing management. Which is kind of a made-up corporate way of saying that I’m basically hired by companies on a long-term basis to oversee their entire marketing strategy, offer recommendations and manage their existing marketing teams. I currently do this for a number of companies in the outdoor industry.

I’ve realized this is by far my favourite way to work, because I get to be down in the dirt everyday with some really talented and capable individuals, helping to create real impact for businesses.

Alongside this, I also take on one-off projects, things like marketing audits, copywriting, consulting, paid ad management, etc. This kind of work often puts me outside my comfort zone but really gets my mental gears spinning, where feel like I can stretch a bit and learn within the parameters of different brands.

All of this is to say, I’m so incredibly grateful for the open doors that have led me to being able to now make these choices and the really epic people I get to work with as a result.

First a quick rundown on best practice dimensions:
🎞️Reels & Stories: 1080x1920px
📱Portrait Feed: 1080x1350px
◼️Square Feed: 1080x1080px
🏞️Landscape Feed: 1080x566px

▪️Thanks to the latest IG updates, it’s important now to consider Safe Zones, ie. keeping edges free of key creative elements, text and logos so they aren’t overlapping the user interface.
