How to rank higher on Google using EEAT [4/4]

Is your website’s TRUSTWORTHINESS in question?

If you are using content practices that go against Google’s policies you are hurting your chances of ranking higher in search results.

Spammy practices can seem tempting for a possible increase in your rankings but you will end up hurting your website’s reputation in the process.

And with the rise of AI generated content flooding the internet, you’ll actually stand out more with natural content.

Don’t risk your website’s trustworthiness over the potential of a quick win.

Building your AUTHORITATIVENESS is your key ranking higher.

Getting client reviews, backlinks and creating high quality content are all important to building your website’s authority.

Collecting reviews on Google is an easy way to improve your website’s authority and can also improve your perception from searchers.

Making sure any website you’re mentioned on link back to your website will give Google more confidence in your authority.

When Google sees you as an authority in the space you are in, your content will naturally rank higher.

Make sure to continuously build your authority to see the biggest benefits.

You clearly have EXPERTISE in your business.

Why does it not show up in your content?

You wouldn’t trust a mechanic over some random person off the street to fix your car so make sure you explain why you are the expert and share that knowledge in your content.

Adding your expert knowledge, credentials, and awards to content not only help Google rate it higher but also the reader too.

Next time you are working on content for your website, make sure you add the expert knowledge you have of the topic and also explain how you became an expert.

Your EXPERIENCE is valuable!

Whether that’s your experience of a product or service OR your experience working in a specific industry.

Creating content using the experience you have, will make it much higher quality than regurgitating the information already on the internet like AI does.

AI can write all about a topic but it doesn’t have the experience you have with it.

Detailed content that has a unique take or new information will be more likely to rank higher on Google.

It also creates the opportunity for backlinks to your website which search engines also love.

Next time you are working on content for your website, make sure to use the experience you have to create higher quality content.

Web design and SEO should go hand in hand.

Many web designers just ignore SEO because it’s “too complicated”.

They just want to make a pretty website and be done with it.

If SEO isn’t considered, you’ll end up with your own lonely corner of the internet.

And be left wondering why no one has come to visit.

Even basic SEO practices can make a difference to your search rankings.

All because of the simple fact that no one else has bothered to do it.

Once you know your customer’s search intent for a particular keyword, you can start making smarter decisions about your website and build a better experience for your customers.

Here are the five search intents that you can optimise for:

Informational - These searches are top of the marketing funnel, and are generally long tail keywords phrased as questions so creating a guide, answering FAQs or writing a blog post are great ways to target this search intent.

Transactional - They’re looking to spend some of their cold hard cash. Try optimising your product and service pages by adding relevant keywords, and clear calls to action.

Commercial - Similarly to the Informational search intent, they are doing research on a product or service. Here's where having relevant information that guides users to make a purchase is really important.

Navigational - This is where users are trying to find their way around the internet. You might have done this when you’ve googled “Trade Me” or “Instagram”. It might seem stupid simple but make sure to have your business name on your website.

And finally Local - This is normally combined with one of our other search intents. Try adding text about your local area, or country like "Auckland" or " NZ" to help these searchers find you.

Today, I finished a 3-day Dale Carnegie sales training course alongside 10 others who I have learnt a lot from.

I am eager to start putting these learning into practice as soon as possible.

I believe that not only will my own sales process be streamlined, but I will be able to optimise the messaging on the websites I create for my clients to improve their leads and sales too.

I will be sharing some of the key takeaways from my training over the next few weeks so stay tuned.
