I keep having the same conversation with business owners.
“I know we need to do more on social media…”
Followed pretty quickly by:
“But does organic content actually work for a real business?”
And I get it.
Because when you’re running an actual business, you don’t really care about becoming an influencer.
You want more people to know you exist.
You want them to walk into your shop.
Book the appointment.
Ask for the quote.
Buy the thing.
You want social media to actually do something for your business.
I’ve even had business owners tell me they’d rather focus on SEO because at least people are actually searching there.
But this is where I think businesses are getting organic content wrong.
Social media and search aren’t two completely separate things anymore.
Your Instagram posts can show up in Google search results. People search Instagram itself for businesses, recommendations, products and places.
And I’ve seen this work for clients- content we’ve created has been found through search by people actively looking for what that business offers.
So no, I don’t think every local business needs to chase viral Reels or spend their life making content.
But I DO think ignoring organic content because you’re not convinced it “works” is becoming a pretty risky strategy.
Because good organic content isn’t just about getting likes.
It helps people find you. It shows them what you do. It gives them a reason to trust you.
And when they eventually need what you sell, it helps make sure your business is the one they remember.
The problem is most business owners know they should be doing this…
They just don’t know what to post, how often to post, or how to turn all that effort into something that actually helps grow the business.
That’s what I want to help with.
