Purpose

The FE Maintenance Advisor is the senior technical authority. responsible for overseeing the entire work management process to ensure maintenance activities are prioritised, planned, scheduled, and executed to the highest standard. This role provides leadership to Technical Advisors & Supervisors governs the quality of work management data, and ensures maintenance strategies, materials readiness, and schedule commitments are met. The Advisor drives continuous improvement through analysis of performance trends, BI insights, and equipment reliability indicators. Acting as a key support to the Maintenance Superintendent—this position plays a vital part in ensuring operational continuity, technical excellence, and long term equipment health.

Essential Duties

Senior technical and work-management authority
End to end work management & technical governance.
Workflow (identify → plan → schedule → execute → analyse), prioritisation, plan approval, schedule sequencing, data oversight.
Defines strategic maintenance tasks (PMs, inspections).
Reviews and endorses plans.
Verifies priority, materials, labour, tooling, permits, and planning accuracy.
Ensures schedule is technically achievable.
Verifies resource leveling, materials, equipment availability, and timelines.
QA/QC, escalation point for technical issues.
Validates complex work quality and procedural compliance.
Reviews completion quality.
Ensures follow ups and corrective tasks are raised properly.
Owns KPI review, BI insights, strategy changes, and improvement plans.
Modifies strategic tasks based on performance.
Leads the Technical Advisors & Supervisors.
Supports and acts for the Maintenance Superintendent.
Maintains technical and work management governance.
Training & Experience
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
5 to 10 years mining experience in a similar role within the mining industry
Experience with crushing conveyors, grinding mills and large slurry pumps

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced GIS Specialist to join our team, based in the Port Moresby officer. Reporting to the Principal Environmental Manager, the role will be responsible for managing and governing site-wide geospatial systems and data to support land access, stakeholder engagement (including FPIC), and operational activities. Ensures accurate mapping of land ownership, customary boundaries, and land use, with all data captured and visualised through GIS to enable transparent, informed decision-making.

Functional Responsibilities include:

GIS Strategy & System Development

Establish and maintain a site-wide GIS framework, including WebGIS platforms for multi-user access
Develop and manage integrated spatial databases covering:
Customary land boundaries
Clan and genealogy mapping
Land use and access corridors
Environmental and infrastructure layers
Ensure GIS systems align with emerging national land registry frameworks and digital land systems

Customary Land & Clan Mapping

Lead spatial support for:
Clan identification and verification processes
Customary land boundary mapping using GPS/GIS
land mediators and social scientists with spatial interpretation of maps, customary boundaries and lineage based landclaims
Support development of secure, transparent land data systems, including:
Clan registries
Boundary verification datasets
Lease and consent mapping

Land Access & Social Performance Integration

Integrate GIS into:
Land Access Risk Assessments (WRAC integration)
Stakeholder mapping and engagement planning
Maintain spatial records for audits, grievance tracking and compliance reporting
Provide spatial insights to support:
FPIC processes
Community negotiations and compensation frameworks linking land loss/access to household and tribal level
Sensitive area identification

Operational & Project Support

Provide GIS support for:
Drilling programs and logistics (barge, heli access routes)
Infrastructure planning (roads, camps, laydown areas)
Environmental monitoring and compliance
Deliver high-quality maps and spatial analytics for:
Daily operations
Weekly planning
Executive reporting

Data Governance & Quality Assurance

Apply the FRL GIS Standard Operating Procedure across all workflows:
Data intake, curation, QA/QC, publishing, and archiving
Maintain:
Complete metadata (ISO 19115 compliant)
Dataset lineage and change tracking
Manage spatial data lifecycle:
Working data → curated datasets → authoritative AGOL layers → archived backups
Ensure:
Proper naming conventions and thematic categorisation
Secure storage and controlled access
Support AGOL administration activities including:
Publishing feature layers, web maps, and applications
Configuring editing, sync, and user access setting
Ensure all GIS outputs are:
Legally defensible
Consistent with regulatory and internal requirements

Technology & Innovation

Implement and manage:
WebGIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Online / Enterprise)
Mobile data collection tools (e.g., Survey123, Field Maps)
Introduce:
Drone/GIS integration for mapping
Real-time spatial dashboards
Drive digitisation of land records and mapping systems, addressing known national gaps

Capacity Building & Knowledge Transfer

Train site teams in GIS tools and spatial awareness
Support onboarding of:
Local GIS personnel
Community-based mapping participants
Develop GIS SOPs, user guides, and onboarding packs

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who:

Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geospatial Science, Geography, Surveying, Environmental Science or related field
5–8 years’ experience in GIS or spatial data management, preferably in resources, infrastructure, or land access projects
Strong experience with ArcGIS (Online/Enterprise), spatial databases, GPS/GNSS mapping, and mobile data collection tools
Experience with land tenure systems, FPIC processes, and stakeholder engagement (highly desirable)
Professional GIS certification (e.g. Esri) preferred
Drone operation certification (advantageous)

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Operations Superintendent to join our team, based at the Frieda River Project Site on a 29/13 Roster. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role will be responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Frieda River support functions. The role provides integrated leadership over the maintenance, HSSE and medical sections so that site infrastructure, plant availability, emergency preparedness, occupational health, environmental compliance, and day-to-day site service delivery support current operations and future project activities.

Key Responsibilities include:

Key Accountabilities:

Lead and coordinate maintenance, HSSE, and medical functions as an integrated site operations team aligned to operational priorities and risk exposure.
Ensure site infrastructure, utilities, plant, and facilities are safely maintained, reliable, and fit for purpose.
Provide strong leadership in health, safety, security, and environmental compliance, ensuring legal and permit obligations are met.
Oversee site medical services and emergency preparedness, including fitness for work, emergency response, and medevac readiness.
Maintain continuity of site operations during disruptions such as weather events, equipment failures, or workforce shortages.
Support site readiness for current and future work programs, ensuring systems and services are in place prior to mobilisation.
Lead and develop teams, setting clear expectations and promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and visible leadership.
Manage budgets, contractors, and resources efficiently while driving reliability and continuous improvement.
Collaborate closely with site leadership, project teams, logistics, community affairs, and external stakeholders.
Deliver accurate operational, maintenance, HSSE, and readiness reporting, including risks, constraints, and improvement actions.

Maintenance

Oversee planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance for site assets and infrastructure.
Ensure maintenance work is risk assessed, prioritised and scheduled in accordance with operational criticality.
Confirm critical spare parts, technical support, contractor support and service intervals are managed proactively.
Ensure defects affecting safety, operability, environmental performance or business continuity are escalated and addressed promptly.
Support the development of shutdown, refurbishment and recovery plans for site facilities and utilities where required.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who:

5+ years’ experience in a similar Superintendent position.
Demonstrated experience in site operations, camp operations, maintenance leadership, HSSE leadership or similar roles in remote mining, exploration, construction or industrial environments.
Proven ability to lead multiple support functions, set expectations, make sound decisions and manage performance in a remote site environment.
Strong understanding of maintenance systems, emergency response, HSSE management, contractor oversight, and operational risk in remote locations.
Ability to communicate clearly with site personnel, management, contractors, regulators and community-facing functions.
Experience in a remote and logistically constrained environments is highly desirable.
Competent in planning, reporting, action tracking and use of common business systems such as Excel, SAP, maintenance/work management systems, incident systems and document control tools.
