An Emotional Farewell to Tininga Dobel

Today marks the final day of operations at Tininga Dobel, bringing an important chapter to a close.

For years, Tininga Dobel has been more than just a retail destination. It has been a familiar place for customers, families, staff and the wider community — creating countless memories along the way.

As the doors close here for the final time today, we reflect with gratitude on the journey, the people and the memories that have made Tininga Dobel a part of so many lives.

But while one chapter ends, another begins.

Tomorrow, a new chapter officially opens at Tininga Dobel Central.

A new location. A new beginning. The same commitment to serving our customers and community.

Thank you, Tininga Dobel, for the memories. And welcome to the next chapter.

El Niño continues to grip the Western Highlands, leaving Mt Hagen unusually dry -but a brief afternoon shower brings a moment of relief. 🌦️

The sudden coolness and the smell of rain on dry soil are a welcome break from the dust and heat. While these light showers provide a quick lifeline for local kaukau patches and dried-out water tanks, weather experts warn the drought isn't over yet.

Steady rains aren't expected to fully return until later in the season.

The advance vehicle of the Prime Minister’s official delegation has officially arrived in Mt Hagen, travelling via the newly connected Trans-National Highway.

The delegation was warmly received and welcomed by the Host Governor, Hon. Wai Rapa, MP, Governor of Western Highlands Province, as preparations continue for the Prime Minister’s historic arrival.

The arrival marks a significant moment for connectivity, infrastructure development and national unity, highlighting the importance of the newly connected highway in strengthening links between communities and regions.

As we welcome September, here’s a throwback to Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations in 2025 — a historic milestone for our nation. 🇵🇬🎉

Among the celebrations were the fathers, grandfathers, councillors, chiefs, community leaders and prominent figures who have carried the stories of our nation from the early days of Independence to the present.

Some were there to witness the birth of our nation in 1975. Others followed in their footsteps, carrying forward the traditions, struggles and hopes of those who came before them.

50 years of Independence. 50 years of stories. One nation. One people. One destiny. 🇵🇬🦅
