A stylized artistic impression inspired by the Baining Fire Dancers of East New Britian Province in Papua New Guinea.
The fire dance is a male only ritual of the Baining people performed deep in the mountains, where initiated young men adorn enormous, elaborate bark-cloth masks to embody forest spirits, dancing barefoot directly through roaring bonfires.
For tribes living near the Tavurvur and Vulcan Volcanoes, the ceremonial dance is used to appease fierce volcanoe spirit deities.
