Jiwaka Kickboxing died out in 2019, according to Jiwaka Kickboxing President Mr. David Falou of Korkor Village, Minj, Jiwaka Province.

Mr. Falou said kickboxing activities later started again, with efforts to bring young people together and encourage both male and female youths to take part in the sport.

Last month, Mr. Falou competed in a national kickboxing tournament in the Last Man Standing event. After the competition, he returned to continue supporting and encouraging Jiwaka youths through kickboxing.

The Jiwaka Kickboxing Club recently gathered at Korkor Village in Minj to train and prepare before taking on challenges at the provincial level.

Mr. Falou said participating in kickboxing and other positive activities can help young people stay focused and reduce their involvement in drugs, homebrew and other illegal activities.

He also thanked and appreciated those who have been supporting Team Jiwaka, including Mr. Thaddius Turi, Mr. Nickson Joe, former Governor Dr. William Tongamp, Mr. Steven Oi Kuli, MRA Chairman John Tuaim, Joe Bal, Kapil Kii and other sponsors who believe in investing in young people and supporting them.

Mr. Falou also requested the Jiwaka Provincial Government to assist the Jiwaka Kickboxing Club in any way possible to help develop the sport and provide more opportunities for young male and female kickboxers.

The club is calling for continued support to help develop Jiwaka kickboxers and create more opportunities for youths to participate in provincial and national competitions.

A Champion of Humanitarian Leadership

Leaders who stand tall in times of severe El Niño and humanitarian crisis deserve to be acknowledged and commended.
