ANCHS sepak takraw standout earned a spot on the Philippine U19 National Team for the Asian Sepak Takraw Federation (ASTAF) U19 Sepak Takraw Championship slated from November 26 to 30, 2026, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

The 17-year-old spiker, Daryl Kent Valentin, has turned years of hard work, grit, and discipline into a breakthrough achievement as he is set to make waves in an international court.

“I am grateful to God for choosing me out of many athletes in the Philippines and for guiding me as I continue to strive for my dreams. I am also thankful for the opportunities given to me, as well as to my trainers for their guidance and support,” said Valentin.

Fueled by gratitude and determination, Valentin said he is ready to seize the opportunity and give his best as he represents the Philippines on the international arena.

“At first, Kent couldn’t even manage basic ball control. But he has this intense drive that if he sets a goal, he works relentlessly until he achieves it,” said ANCHS head coach Carla Marie Vencer. According to Vencer, Valentin thrives under heavy pressure, turning it to his distinct advantage.

“He is not only the pride of Alimodian but also the pride of the whole country. His selection reflects his dedication, perseverance, and hard work during training,” said Jeredith Anas, secondary sports coordinator of Alimodian I.

Valentin advanced to the national team tryouts in Passi City after an impressive scouting display before national coaches at the Palarong Pambansa in Agusan del Sur.

Meanwhile, Valentin will join forces with his teammates Jaypee Magno, Harjay Suelo, Rainer Penuela from Sta. Barbara and Milsam Jude Gonzales from San Dionisio
who are also chosen to be part of the Philippine team.

To reinforce campus safety and security, personnel from the 601st Company of the Philippine National Police (PNP), in coordination with school officials, conducted a surprise bag inspection at Alimodian National Comprehensive High School (ANCHS) this morning.

The activity aimed to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment by checking for prohibited items and promoting students’ awareness of school rules and regulations.

School administrators emphasized that the inspection was carried out in an organized and respectful manner, with the safety and well-being of students remaining the top priority.

With a 48-47 vote margin, the current ANCHS Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) president of ANCHS was elected as a secretary of Division Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government (DFSSLG) on June 10, 2026.

The result placed the Grade 12, Michaela Jane Duero, in a division-wide student leadership position representing secondary learners across the province of Iloilo.

“I was genuinely shocked because I did not expect the outcome,” said Duero.

Duero joined the DFSSLG race inspired by her early leadership experiences.

“The student leaders before me inspired me to become one of them. When I entered high school, I joined the SSLG and eventually took on leadership roles because I wanted to serve learners,” Duero added.

During the campaign period, Duero reached out to student leaders from different schools and helped organize the UGYON Partylist, while managing coordination through online platforms.

“Managing our schedules alongside our academic and personal responsibilities was not easy, but we worked through it together and remained committed to our goal,” said Duero.

As Duero prepares to assume office, Duero said she will focus on communication among student leaders, transparency, and learner representation.

“I plan to actively listen to the concerns, ideas, and suggestions of learners from different schools. Every voice matters, and I want that reflected in every decision we make,” Duero added.

Looking back at the election results, the narrow result highlighted the importance of participation in student elections.

“Winning by just one vote reminded me that every effort, every person, and every vote truly matter. This victory is proof that even the smallest margin can carry the biggest meaning,” said Duero.

As Duero begins her term, she hopes to strengthen the collaboration among the student leaders in the province of Iloilo and ensure that the welfare of every learner remains at the center of student governance.

Following the tragic event involving the minor learners across the country, the ANCHS implemented a stronger preventive and safety measure in the campus starting Monday, June 22, 2026.

The said measures include stricter bag inspections of students and visitors, random classroom checking, and regular monitoring of the school's perimeter fences.

"Some students do not enter through the main gate. That is why random checking inside the classrooms should also be done in collaboration with advisers and curriculum chairpersons,” said Mr. Romar C. Cubin, school principal.

Furthermore, Mr. Cubin noted that some areas of the school's perimeter fence have become common passageways for learners. So, the administration is starting the fencing the areas to reinforce the security.

“We are also strengthening our classroom orientations during their homeroom guidance on anti-bullying, child protection policy, learners’ welfare, and mental health awareness,” said Mr. Cubin.

Encouraging the involvement of the stakeholders, the school administration requests the help of the Local Government Unit (LGU), the municipal police officers, and the 601st Brigade in the municipality to extend their share by providing regular police visibility around the campus.

"The safety of our learners is not a one-man task. It is everybody's concern from our homes, the community, and the school itself. We must remain vigilant and we must work together to ensure the safety and wellness of every learner," Mr. Cubin emphasized.

Meanwhile, the school administration is looking forward to the immediate action of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) in this urgent concern of the students’ welfare.

Following days of intensive one-on-one learning interventions, Alimodian National Comprehensive High School concluded its Academic Remedial Assistance for Learners (ARAL) Program on June 2, 2026.

The 20-day intervention culminated in a recognition program featuring the awarding of certificates, reading presentations by the ARAL learners, and performance by the learners and the tutors.

“Through this program, learners gained academic support that helped address gaps in literacy and numeracy skills,” said Romar C. Cubin, School Principal.

Moreover, Cubin added that he is confident that the knowledge and skills gained by the learners, with the help of ARAL tutors, will help them thrive in the School Year 2026–2027.

“The program enables the school to extend assistance to learners, particularly those who are underprivileged and those experiencing literacy and numeracy related challenges, the intervention would continue to contribute to quality education and produce positive results for learners in the future,” said Cubin.

Looking ahead, Cubin expressed hope for continued support from the Department of Education (DEPED) and the central office to further strengthen the implementation of the program.

The culminating activity ended with Mrs. Malou Galagate, ARAL Focal Person, urging the learners to remain diligent and confident as they go back to their regular classes.

𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐒| 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐞

After showcasing grit and determination, the Western Visayas Secondary Boys Sepak Takraw Team captured bronze at the 2026 Palarong Pambansa in Agusan del Sur on May 24.

Composed of athletes from Sta. Barbara, Alimodian, and San Dionisio, the team fell short against host region CARAGA in a tightly contested three-set match, 15-11, 7-15, 13-15.

"They trained well and it was the result of their dedication, teamwork and perseverance, most of all because of the help of our almighty God" said Carla Marie Vencer, Assistant Coach.

With their title on the line, the game was crucial to the defending champions to stay on the run.

"We stayed focused on our game and did not let the people distract us. We always prayed for our team, trained hard, and thought carefully about our strategies on the court. We trusted one another, and we are thankful because the Lord never left us," said Daryl Kent Valentin, an athlete from Alimodian.

According to Valentin, the team are still grateful to bring home a medal. He added that they will continue to work hard and strive to regain the title in the next Palaro.

"Honestly, we felt a little sad because Region VI was the defending champion during the 2025 Palarong Pambansa in Ilocos Norte. It was a very crucial game against the host region, CARAGA, and perhaps their home-court advantage and the support of the crowd played a factor. Despite that, our athletes from Western Visayas gave their very best and fought hard until the end," said Jeredith Anas, Secondary Sports Coordinator of Alimodian I.

Though their title run came to an end, Western Visayas proved that its fighting spirit remains intact, leaving the team eager to pursue championship glory once again next year.
