IMEE: Dept. of Angkat, bilhin niyo naman ang ani natin!

Dismayado si Senador Imee R. Marcos sa patuloy na pagpasok ng imported na gulay samantalang ang mga lokal na magsasaka ay napipilitang itapon na lang ang kanilang ani dahil sa bagsak presyo.

“Wala ng bumibili ng repolyo, pamigay na lang ang ani. Sa farmgate, ₱2 hanggang ₱7 na lang binibili kada kilo—pero sa palengke, mahal pa rin. Ano ’to, lokohan?” banat ni Marcos.

Sa kabila ng sapat na produksyon na umaabot sa 135,000 metric tons (MT) kada taon ayon sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), lampas pa sa demand na 122,500 MT, walang awat pa rin ang pagpasok ng imported na repolyo. Dahil dito, labis-labis na ang suplay sa merkado, kaya bagsak na ang presyo, at tiyak na ang lugi ng sarili nating magsasaka.

Dagdag pasakit pa ang taas ng presyo ng diesel at gastos sa transportasyon, kaya may mga magsasakang hinahayaan na lang mabulok ang ani kaysa lalo pang malugi sa paghatid ng produkto.

“Sobra pa nga ang lokal na ani pero walang awa ang pagdagsa ng imported! Department of Angkat na dapat ang itawag sa DA!” pasaring ng senador sa Department of Agriculture (DA).

Hinamon din niya ang Bureau of Plant Industry na ipaliwanag ang patuloy na pagbibigay ng import permits para sa fresh, retail, processing, at institutional use, habang naghihirap ang lokal na sektor.

NOTORIOUS DRUG PERSONALITY FALLS IN PDEA BAGUIO RAID: P95K WORTH OF ILLICIT DRUGS SEIZED

Baguio City — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera (PDEA CAR)- Baguio/Benguet Provincial Office carried out a search warrant in Barangay Alfonso Tabora, Baguio City, resulting in the seizure of illegal drugs valued at approximately P95,200 and the arrest of a notorious drug personality, on April 25, 2026

During the operation, authorities confiscated eight plastic sachets containing suspected Methamphetamine Hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” with an estimated total weight of 14 grams. Several drug paraphernalia were also recovered from the suspect’s residence.

The arrested individual is a 48-year-old unemployed male resident of Barangay Alfonso Tabora. He has a prior record of drug-related offenses, having been previously arrested in August 2021.

He is now facing charges for violations of Sections 11 and 12 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“This operation is another progress in monitoring the 54 drug-cleared barangays of Baguio City, where drug personalities unfortunately continue to operate. We encourage the community to provide further information to aid our ongoing efforts,” Regional Director Martin R Francia said.

The operation was a result of interoperability efforts among PDEA CAR- Baguio/Benguet (lead unit) and Abra Provincial office, the PDEA-CAR Regional Special Enforcement Team Alpha, and the local police.

2 Women Nabbed in Benguet Drug Session; Authorities Seize Suspected Shabu

Two women were arrested in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Abatan, Buguias, Benguet on the afternoon of April 18, 2026, following a tip from a concerned citizen about an alleged ongoing drug session. The operation, conducted from 4:05 PM to 5:30 PM, was led by the Buguias Municipal Police Station under the leadership of PCPT Filmore DS Pasiwen- Acting Chief of Police with support from the Benguet Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Provincial Intelligence Unit, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Cordillera Administrative Region, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, and the 1st Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Authorities reported that the suspects, aged 37 and 24 and both residents of Benguet, were allegedly caught in the act of using illegal drugs during the operation. Law enforcers recovered a sachet containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu weighing approximately 0.06 gram, along with several items associated with drug use.

Also taken into custody were non-drug items such as a mobile phone, lighters, and cigarette materials found at the scene. The two individuals were brought under police custody for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges under the R.A 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which penalizes possession and use of illegal drugs.

Authorities reiterated that all arrested individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law, while continuing to urge the public to report suspected illegal activities in their communities.

Official Statement on the 2026 BSKE Postponement

I support the postponement of the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

At a time when the country is confronted with serious economic challenges brought about by the oil crisis, prudence demands that we prioritize the allocation of limited public resources. According to COMELEC during the budget hearing last year, nationwide barangay and SK elections will require around 16 billion pesos. This sum can be more urgently directed toward addressing the immediate needs of our people, including rising fuel costs, food security, and essential public services.

Equally important, postponement will allow our local officials to remain fully focused on governance and crisis response, rather than being drawn into the distractions of electoral politics.

In times such as these, continuity of leadership at the grassroots level can help ensure stability and more efficient delivery of public services.
