Today feels like a good day to slow down and say thank you. Thanksgiving is not a holiday we traditionally celebrate in the Philippines, but I still love the reminder to look at my life and notice the quiet blessings that carried me through the year.

I am grateful for my son who gives my days purpose.
I am grateful for the clients who trust me and allow me to grow.
I am grateful for the people who stayed, supported, and believed in me when life felt heavy.
I am grateful for the strength I found in myself while rebuilding this year.

This season taught me that gratitude is not about perfect days. It is about noticing the small moments, the soft victories, and the people who make the hard days a little lighter.

Every November 1 and 2, many Filipino families visit cemeteries to light candles, bring flowers, and spend time remembering their loved ones. It’s a tradition that reminds us how love continues even beyond life.

This year feels different for me. My grandpa passed away last December 20, 2024, and my grandma followed on January 7, 2025. They were more than grandparents to me. When my biological mom passed away before I turned one, my grandma became my mother. She raised me with quiet strength and unconditional love, and Grandpa was always there to guide and protect me.

They were my home, my comfort, and my guide for every decision I made growing up. Losing them both so close together broke me in ways I can’t explain. Grief changed me. But it also reminded me of the kind of strength they’ve taught me all my life: quiet, patient, and full of faith.

Now, I’m learning to live without their presence but with their lessons in my heart. I’m learning to make choices on my own. To trust myself. To find peace even in the silence they left behind.

Today, I remember them with love and gratitude—for raising me, for loving me, and for teaching me how to stand on my own.
