I once received an email from a Google Ads “Account Manager.”
Polite tone. Official logo.
“Complimentary consultation for your Google Ads account.”
Looked legit.
But at the bottom, it said:
- Concentrix + WebHelp, Contracted to Google.
So I searched the rep’s name.
- Their profile showed 10 years in call center operations.
That’s when it clicked.
- Most Google Ads reps are not actual Google employees.
- They’re call center agents trained to follow scripts.
Early in my career, one of my clients followed a rep’s advice.
- They changed bid strategy based on recommendations
- Spend skyrocketed.
- Performance crashed.
Lesson: Google’s job is to make advertisers spend more.
Your job is to make every dollar work harder.
Always trust your own data.
Never hand your strategy to someone reading from a script.
