In a proactive move to further strengthen school and community safety, PCOL ABUBAKAR UDANG MANGELEN JR, Provincial Director of the Cebu Police Provincial Office, convened a conference with the CPPO Command Group and Staff, Chiefs of Police of all municipal and component city police stations, and the Force Commanders of the 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Companies via Zoom on June 23, 2026, from the CPPO Command Center.
The meeting focused on the discussion of preventive measures and security interventions in response to the recent shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, Leyte. The conference aimed to assess existing security protocols and identify measures that would further enhance the safety of schools, students, teachers, and communities throughout Cebu Province.
Among the key initiatives discussed were the intensification of police visibility in and around educational institutions, closer coordination with school authorities and local government units, heightened intelligence monitoring, regular security assessments, and the strengthening of rapid response capabilities to address potential threats.
PCOL Mangelen emphasized that ensuring the safety of learners and educational institutions remains a top priority. He directed all Chiefs of Police and operational units to remain vigilant, proactive, and responsive to emerging security concerns while fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders to maintain a secure and conducive learning environment.
The Cebu PPO remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting every community and ensuring that schools throughout the province remain safe spaces where students can pursue their education free from fear and harm.
