WORTH READING⬇️

What happens when you constantly talk negatively to yourself? 🧠

When you repeatedly think things like:

“I’m not good enough.”
“I always mess things up.”
“Nothing will ever work out for me.”
“I’m a failure.”
“Everyone is better than me.”

your brain repeatedly activates its stress and threat systems. Chronic stress can affect sleep, mood, attention, memory, and emotional regulation.
Over time, your brain can also become more practiced at following the same negative thought patterns.
This is related to neuroplasticity—the brain changes in response to repeated experiences and patterns of thinking.

But here's the important part ❤️
Negative thoughts are normal. You don't have to force yourself to be positive all the time.
Instead of:

“I'm a failure.”

Try:
“I made a mistake, but I can learn from it.”

Instead of:

“I'll never be successful.”

Try:

“I'm not where I want to be yet, but I'm working toward it.”

Instead of:

“I can't handle this.”

Try:

“This is difficult, but I'll take it one step at a time.”

That's not pretending everything is perfect. It's teaching your brain to respond to difficulties with more balanced and constructive thinking.

Think of your mind like a path
The thoughts you repeatedly practice can become easier to return to. If you constantly practice self-criticism, that pathway can become very familiar.

If you practice self-compassion, realistic thinking, gratitude, and problem-solving, those patterns can become more familiar too.
