We would like to thank everyone who participated in our exhibit. Your presence and engagement made this experience more meaningful, and we hope the stories, ideas, and perspectives shared here continue to inspire reflection long after the end of this event.

As an ending for our exhibit, we present you the committees who worked behind the scenes. From planning, collecting artworks, building the website, and promoting the event—ZC11 stands united for the people and for awareness.

𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬, 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬
𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞?

Corruption steals funds meant for projects like flood control, leaving communities defenseless against typhoons. While politicians and contractors pocket billions of pesos, the poor drown in preventable disasters. Protests erupt, but justice shields the powerful—proving palaces grow while Filipinos pay with empty pockets and lives.

Imagine this, the government sets aside billions of pesos for flood control projects to protect people from typhoons. But instead of building proper dams or drainage systems, some politicians and contractors allegedly steal that money. Now, when a typhoon hits, entire communities drown because the infrastructure is weak or nonexistent. That’s the ‘Empty Pockets, Full Palaces’ reality—ordinary people lose everything, while corrupt officials live in luxury.

Remember the flood control corruption scandal? Investigators named big shots in hearings, but the ones actually jailed so far are smaller players—like the system protects the powerful. Meanwhile, people are rallying nonstop, demanding justice. But here’s the thing: rallies alone won’t fix it. The system is rigged to protect the corrupt elites.

Who suffers? The poor. Families in flood-prone slums. People who can’t afford to rebuild after storms. And when corruption kills, it’s political too—it shows how the government prioritizes greed over lives. Is change happening? The protests keep the pressure on, but real change needs systemic reforms: punishing the untouchables, ending kickbacks in projects, and letting citizens track where taxes go. Until then, the cycle repeats—palaces get fuller, pockets stay empty, and the poor pay the price.

𝗗𝘂𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗯𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗸𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻: 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆𝗮?

Sa Pilipinas, matagal nang nakaugat sa pulitika ang nepotismo. Tahimik itong sumisingit sa bawat sulok ng pamahalaan, hinuhubog ang mga desisyon, at dahan-dahang binabago ang kapalaran ng mamamayan. Madalas itong ipaliwanag bilang "tiwala sa sariling dugo," ngunit sa likod nito ay nakabaon ang masakit na katotohanan: natatabunan ang merito at napupunta ang mga pagkakataon sa hindi karapat-dapat. Sa ganitong sistema, lumalago ang katiwalian sa lilim ng pamilya at kapangyarihan.

Upang maunawaan kung bakit nagiging pugad ng katiwalian ang nepotismo, suriin natin ang siklo nito sa loob ng mga institusyon. Kapag magkakamag-anak ang nakapuwesto, lumulubha ang marupok na proseso ng pagsusuri at mas madaling maitago ang iregularidad. Inuuna ang interes ng pamilya kaysa kapakanan ng bayan, kaya nagiging malabo ang pamantayan at desisyon. Habang nakikinig ang sambayanan, tila sila ang huling nabibigyan ng boses.

Pinapalakas din ng nepotismo ang mga dinastiyang politikal na matagal nang nag-uugat sa bansa. Lumalawak ang kanilang kontrol sa yaman, kapangyarihan, at impluwensiya, kaya mas madali ang hindi patas na transaksyon at pag-abuso sa pondo. Para sa ilan, tila natural lang ang "pamilya sa serbisyo," ngunit ito rin ang dahilan kung bakit mabagal ang reporma at lumalala ang katiwalian. Hindi ba nakapapagod isipin na ang kapangyarihan ay parang mana na ipinapasa, sa halip na responsibilidad na nararapat sa karapat-dapat?

Tunay nga na hadlang sa pag-unlad ng Pilipinas ang nepotismo. Pinahihina nito ang integridad ng pamahalaan at pinalalayo ang tiwala ng mamamayan. Habang umaasa ang bayan sa patas at tapat na gobyerno, paulit-ulit na bumabalik ang parehong apelyido at isyu. Nakasalalay sa mamamayan ang pagpigil sa siklong ito at ang paghingi ng pananagutan mula sa mga lider na nakalimot sa tunay na serbisyo. Kaya naman, nananatiling nakabitin ang tanong:

𝕂𝔸ℙ𝔸ℕ𝔾𝕐𝔸ℝ𝕀ℍ𝔸ℕ𝔾 ℙ𝔸ℝ𝔸 𝕊𝔸 𝕀𝕂𝔸𝕌𝕌ℕ𝕃𝔸𝔻 ℕ𝔾 𝔹𝔸𝕐𝔸ℕ 𝔸𝕐 𝕊𝔸 𝔹𝕌𝕃𝕊𝔸 ℕ𝔾 𝕂𝕌ℝ𝔸ℙ 𝕌𝕄𝔸𝔸ℙ𝔸𝕎.

We entrust those in power with the responsibility to lead our country toward progress and to govern with compassion and integrity. Yet instead of genuine service, many use our struggles as an opportunity to disguise corruption as “development.” Projects meant for the people become tools to fund lavish lifestyles, while ordinary citizens continue to suffer.

This is not new. We have seen this pattern before. Corruption has long plagued our nation, and justice is often delayed or denied. But in our time, justice will be served. The youth carries the power to stand up, to challenge the system, and to demand the accountability our country deserves.

𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧. Our education, awareness, and courage are our weapons. We must stop turning a blind eye. Corruption is real and it thrives when people remain silent. It is our responsibility to speak, to act, and to resist.
