We proudly welcome Dr. Nelcie Estolano-Mabini, EdD, MAST, Program Chair for Master of Arts in Science Education at Northwest Samar State University โ€“ Main Campus, to the ERIO community!

Dr. Mabini is a distinguished academic leader and Professor in the College of Education, teaching in the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science program at Northwest Samar State University, Calbayog City, Samar.

As the Program Chair of the Master of Arts in Science Education (MASEd) in the Graduate School, she plays a vital role in advancing graduate education, curriculum development, and research in science education. Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to academic excellence and the professional growth of future educators.

Through her work in teaching, research, and program leadership, Dr. Mabini continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of science education and teacher development in Region VIII and beyond.

This insightful case study examines the effectiveness of teaching approaches in Science and Technology education within public high schools in the Samar Division. The findings reveal that while teachers demonstrate competence and dedication in instruction, there remains a need to enhance teaching practices through continuous professional development and exposure to innovative pedagogical approaches. The study highlights the prevalence of traditional teaching methods, while emphasizing the importance of integrating constructivist, differentiated, and learner-centered strategies to improve student learning outcomes. It underscores the critical role of teacher competence, training, and career advancement opportunities in adapting to the evolving demands of 21st-century education.

Dr. Mabini is the Program Chair of the Master of Arts in Science Education at the Graduate School of Northwest Samar State University (Main Campus, Calbayog City, Samar).
