When clients approach me to help them with their course launch, one of the important questions I would ask them is “Do you have an email list?”
If their answer is “No, I don’t have it yet” and/or “I only focus on my Instagram or Facebook audience”
I would always suggest that we start on building their email list not because I want them to pay me extra for building a lead generation funnel that would collect emails but because I want them to have their OWN audience.
Relying on social media ALONE which algorithms change a lot is not an effective way to scale your business. Aside from this platform is not YOURS, only 10%-20% of your audience here will be able to see your post, and sometimes they are not even a targeted audience.
But when you have their emails, which they gave voluntarily (which means they are a targeted audience and they want to hear from you), you can have a better connection with them. According to Francisco Rosales, the founder of Social Mouth, although 22 percent of emails tend to end up blocked or in junk folders, 78 percent of them are successfully delivered, which vastly expands your reach and overall audience and brings you higher ROI.
You can also personalize your emails like addressing them with their names to build genuine connection, earn trust and bring them closer to buying from you.
Protect your business from algorithm changes and don’t leave your biggest asset to be managed by a social media platform that could disappear anytime. Keep your list to yourself – you earned it.
